Under-15 Division 2 2011/12

League away to Greenwood on Saturday 14th January 2012
Midleton 1-2 Greenwood
Scorer - Conor Fitzgerald

Our first league defeat of the season where Greenwood avenged their loss to us early in the season with the same scoreline. Playing against the strong breeze we struggled to get going in the first half as both defences were well on top. Both teams were struggling to create any chances but on 20mins Greenwood took the lead when a bit of slack play from our throw in led to the Greenwood striker finishing well. We came back into the game in the last ten mins of the half but when the whistle blew for half time the Greenwood keeper had not been tested.

With the breeze at our backs we started well in the second half but on 46mins we were 2 down as a cruel deflection led to an own goal from a very tame shot. With four subs introduced we kept taking the game to Greenwood and a smart turn and shot by Conor Fitzgerald was rewarded with a goal on 60mins. We kept pushing and Jack Enright saw his shot saved but we could not turn our possession into clear cut chances as Greenwood defended very well to see out the game and victory.

Well done to Greenwood who handed us our first league defeat of the season. For us there were few stand out displays but both Seadnaidh and Dylan worked very hard throughout the game. We will now dust ourselves down and look forward to the next match to get our promotion campaign back on track.

Team - 1. Joe Wyer 2. Aaron Butler 3. Seadnaidh Symth 4. James Leahy 5. Daniel Creedon 6. Ryan Denny 7. John Looney 8. Kyle McCarthy 9. Jack Enright 10. Conor Fitzgerald 11. Dylan Casey 12. Alvaro Miguel 13. Killian Browne 13. Cormac Beausang 14. Ross Cummins 15. Jack Winckworth

League at home to Kinsale on Sunday 20th November 2011
Midleton 3 Kinsale 2
Goal Scorers - Dylan Casey, Jack Enright, Ryan Denny.

Where to start, minus Kyle who was away training with Ireland and Cormac who was sick, we welcomed back Seadnaidh from injury but we got off to the worst possible start when poor defending let Kinsale score inside 4mins. We gradually got back into the game and a slick move saw Jack Enright hit the post on 10mins, Kinsale were defending deep and trying to hit us on the break, and on 17mins another defensive blunder let in Kinsale for number two. We were now in deep trouble but again we took the game to Kinsale we were dominating possession but Kinsale were defending well, from a corner Ryan Denny saw his shot cleared off the line, a couple of half chances came and went and the whistle blew for half-time and we were down by two without playing badly.

With a mountain to climb we were determined to make amends, the intro of John Looney to the fray on 45mins settled the team as we began to turn the screw, Seadnaidh and James Leahy were working so hard in midfield and on 50mins a corner by Alvaro Miguel was turned in by Dylan Casey to narrow the gap. On 52mins we were all square as Jack Enright turned well and finished well to the corner, we kept pressing Conor Fitzgerald was unlucky on 2 occasions and then Jack narrowly shot wide when put through. Pressure was now mounting on Kinsale as the midfield drive us forward and a foul on the edge of the box lead to our winner. Conor put in a firm shot which the keeper could not hold and following up was captain Ryan to bury the ball to make it 3-2 on 73mins. We saw out the final seven minutes to complete a fine comeback and maintain our unbeaten start to the league campaign.

It wasn't pretty at times but the lads dug deep when they needed it most and got their reward in the end, MOM this week again difficult to call as there were a number of good performances with strong second half displays from Alvaro, Seadnaidh, Jack, James and John, shading the MOM would be James and Seadnaidh for the sheer workrate the two put in.

1. Joe Wyer 2. Aaron Butler 3. Alvaro Miguel 4. James Leahy 5. Ross Cummins 6. Ryan Denny 7. Killian Browne 8. Seadnaidh Symth 9. Jack Enright 10. Conor Fitzgerald 11. Dylan Casey 12. David Murphy 13. John Looney 14. Jack Winckworth 15. Daniel Creedon.

League away to Bandon on 5th November 2011
Bandon 1-6 Midleton
Goal Scorers Conor Fitzgerald 3, Jack Enright, Cormac Beausang, Jack Winckworth.

On a very poor pitch, flowing football was again hard to find but we eventually came away with the three points. For the first ten minutes we were all at sea as we struggled to adapt to the conditions and it was no surprise when Bandon took the lead after we failed to clear the ball. This seemed to shock us into life and we drew level within a minute as Conor Fitzgerald picked out Jack Enright who finished well. For the next 15mins we started to come into the game as we changed our style to suit the pitch and we then blitzed Bandon with 3 goals in 4 minutes. First a long pass from Kyle McCarthy was latched onto by Conor who lobbed the keeper to give us the lead on 26mins. Number three followed on 29mins when Conor's cross to the far post was finished well by Cormac Beausang for his first of the season, Bandon kicked off but we won the ball back and a one-two between Jack and Conor finished with Conor making it 4-1 on 30mins. Half time score 4-1 to Midleton.

Second half saw us put in a much better team display, with the defence led by Ryan Denny and Ross Cummins giving Joe Wyer little to do as any break by Bandon was broken up by a firm tackle or header. With Cormac and Kyle working hard in midfield we had the lion's share of the possession as we looked to add to our goal tally, but fair dues to Bandon who were defending well. With all three subs on we kept pressing and Alvaro Miguel was unlucky when his shot clipped the post, then Cormac drew a good save from the keeper but on 70mins a cross from Alvaro was tucked away by Conor to complete his hat-trick. A sixth was to follow as another long pass from Kyle find Conor whose shot was parried to Jack Winckworth to score on his debut and make the final score 6-1.

Another good win on a very poor pitch where we had to work hard for our victory. There was no MOM this week as it was a good all round team performance with a number of lads putting in good solid displays, Ryan had a great second half as did Kyle and Cormac who both worked extremely hard in midfield, with Conor tucking away a nice hat-trick to round things off.

Also congratulations to Kyle McCarthy who has been selected for the Republic of Ireland Under 15’s Squad for the friendly games against Aspire Academy taking place in December, well done Kyle.

1. Joe Wyer 2. Aaron Butler 3. David Murphy 4. James Leahy 5. Ross Cummins 6. Ryan Denny 7. Cormac Beausang 8. Kyle McCarthy 9. Jack Enright 10. Conor Fitzgerald 11. Dylan Casey 12. Alvaro Miguel 13. Killian Browne 14. Jack Winckworth

League away to Avondale United on 22nd October 2011
Avondale United 0-1 Midleton

Goal Scorer John Looney

Top two teams in the league and we managed to come away with a narrow 1-0 victory. We welcomed back number 1 keeper Joe Wyer from injury and on a very wet and windy day flowing football was hard to come by as both teams find the going hard. We played with the wind and the slope and could of scored within 15 seconds as Cormac Beausang put in a fine cross which Jack Enright was inches away from connecting. This was to be the only real chance of the 1st half as both defences cancelled out any attacks. Ryan Denny and Russ Cummins were in fine form with a number of crunching tackles and headers but this was matched by the Avondale centre half's who were doing the exact same to us. James Leahy was covering every blade of grass but we could not breach the Avondale defence and as the rain continued to fall the ref blew for half time with the game scoreless.

Second half saw Avondale with the advantage of the wind and the slope and they torn into us for the first ten minutes, winning a succession of corners, but with the defence standing firm and Joe Wyer's handling superb we ride the storm. John Looney came on for his debut and his measured passing and work-rate settled the team. Kyle McCarthy was know coming into the game and aided by James and Cormac we began to get a foothold in the game again. On 60mins a good move ended with Conor Fitzgerald hitting a good chance straight at the keeper, we were still defending very well and counter attacking on the break, and on 75mins our chance came. A long ball was controlled by Russ who hit a great ball to Cormac who played it into Kyle and in one movement he laid it into the path of John who took one touch and finished well to give us the lead and be our tenth different scorer of the season already. Avondale poured forward for the last few minutes but once again we stood firm to secure a very important victory and inflict Avondale's first defeat of the season.

A good win slightly harsh on Avondale as a draw would probably have been a fair result but we will take it. This was not a day for flowing football but a day for commitment and hard work as shown by the two centre backs Ryan and Russ, James and Cormac also worked very hard, but just shading MOM this week would be Russ Cummins.

1. Joe Wyer 2. Aaron Butler 3. Alvaro Miguel 4. James Leahy 5. Russ Cummins 6. Ryan Denny 7. Cormac Beausang 8. Kyle McCarthy 9. Jack Enright 10. Conor Fitzgerald 11. Dylan Casey 12. David Murphy 13. Killian Browne 14. John Looney 15. Daniel Creedon 16. Jack Winckworth

National Cup away to Mallow on 15th October 2011
Mallow 4-1 Midleton
Goal Scorer Dylan Casey

Third round of the National cup saw us away to Premier team Mallow and although we lost the scoreline did not do us justice as we put in a fine effort. Missing a number of players we travelled with only 13 and still minus our regular keeper Jamie Clohessey took the No 1 jersey and did very well on his debut. Mallow opened up very well and we were on the back foot for the first ten minutes as they took the lead when we were unable to clear a scrabble in the box. We then began to settle as the game became more even, Ryan Denny was having a great game at centre back with a number of fine tackles and headers as we began to thwart the Mallow attacks. Then disaster struck as we conceded 2 goals in three minutes the first a great header from a fine cross and the second a strike from 30 yards out which left Jamie with no chance. It would have been very easy for us to fold but we came again and finished the half the stronger, first Kyle McCarthy on 34mins rattled the bar with a great strike, he then released Jack Enright whose shot when straight at the keeper.

Second half saw us take the game to Mallow as we upped our performance. With Ryan, Russ Cummins and Aaron Butler marshalling the defence and Kyle beginning to see more of the ball we began to push Mallow. We were unlucky on 50mins when Ryan meet Kyle's corner with a great header but Dylan Casey was unable to direct it goalbound. Out of the blue Mallow broke to make it 4nil on 55mins but we kept playing with Dylan, Kyle and Cormac Beausang now coming strongly into the game. We eventually got our reward on 70mins when Dylan finished a flowing move by lobbing the keeper to make it 4-1. The last 10mins saw us camped in the Mallow half as Jack saw the keeper make a great save and then Cormac saw his strike go narrowly wide. We kept pushing but we unable to score to give Mallow the victory, we wish them well in the next round.

Our 1st defeat of the season but in defeat the lads should be extremely pleased with the way they fought and played. Kyle McCarthy led by example and gave a fine performance as did Aaron Butler and Dylan Casey but standing out at centre back was Ryan Denny who gave his all to take the MOM this week. With a number of players returning from injury and a couple of new signings made to bolster the squad we can look forward to the next game with confidence.

1. Jamie Clohessey 2. Aaron Butler 3. Alvaro Miguel 4. James Leahy 5. Russ Cummins 6. Ryan Denny 7. Killian Browne 8. Kyle McCarthy 9. Jack Enright 10. Cormac Beausang 11. Dylan Casey 12. David Murphy 13. China Igboanusi

League at home to Passage on Sunday 9th October 2011
Midleton 5 Passage 2
Conor Fitzgerald 2, Jack Enright, Ryan Denny, James Leahy.

Third League game of the season saw us put in another good performance. Minus regular keeper Joe Wyer through injury Cormac Beausang took the No 1 jersey and he had a very easy 1st half as we dominated the half. First chance came on 10 mins when Conor Fitzgerald pulled back to Jack Enright but his shot went over the bar. With Dylan Casey having a great game down the left and Killian Browne likewise down the right we looked threatening every time we went forward. A foul on Dylan on 23mins led to Kyle McCarthy striking the bar with a terrific free kick. We were not to be denied as a poor kick out was finished well by Conor on 25mins to give us the lead, another sweeping move saw Dylan pull back to the ball to Ryan Denny and his was unlucky to see his strike hit the bar. A minute later the keeper pulled off a great save from James Leahy but on 35mins when it looked like it was going to be one of those games, a poor clearance saw Conor again finish well to make it 2-0. We kept pushing forward and Conor was unlucky to see his shot go just wide to leave the half time score 2nil to us.

Second half saw Passage come into the game as it take us a while to get going again, but first Conor was denied by the keeper and then he had a goal disallowed which looked marginal. On 60mins though we got our third when Dylan released Jack who finished well to the corner, our fourth was only 6mins away as a Kyle corner was finished at the back post with a great header by Ryan for his 1st of the season. Some sloppy defending left Passage in on 70mins to make it 4-1, but on 73mins a good pass by Kyle let in James Leahy for his 1st of the season to make it 5-1. Fair dues to Passage who never stopped trying and they made it 5-2 on 78mins.

A good win, minus a number of players out through injury we again played some great football from back to front passing the ball extremely well. Also thanks to Patrick Horgan and Cameron Smyth from the U14a for lining out today both got on as second half subs. Difficult to pick out man of the match this week as it was a solid team performance but Dylan Casey would just shade it for his all round display.

1. Cormac Beausang 2. Aaron Butler 3. Alvaro Miguel 4. James Leahy 5. Russ Cummins 6. Ryan Denny 7. Killian Browne 8. Kyle McCarthy 9. Conor Fitzgerald 10. Jack Enright 11. Dylan Casey 12. David Murphy 13. Patrick Horgan 14. Cameron Smyth

National Cup away to Douglas Hall A on 24th September
Douglas Hall A 1-8 Midleton
Kyle McCarthy 3, China Igboanusi 3, Conor Fitzgerald, Jack Enright.

First round of the National Cup saw us away to Douglas HallA where at times we put in a master class in the art of passing. First half was all one way traffic as we moved the ball at speed, Killian Browne was unlucky after 2mins when his left foot strike hit the post, but on 4mins Kyle McCarthy opened our account with a terrific strike from 25 yards. His second on 8mins was a carbon copy when after another slick move his long range strike hit the net. With Aaron Butler over lapping at every opportunity his attacking play led to Killian providing the pass for Conor Fitzgerald to slot our third on 17mins. Our fourth was a gem as Kyle completed his hat-trick with a beaut again from outside the box on 20mins. It was tremendous to watch and after 28mins another storming run by Aaron his cross was tucked away by Jack Enright for our fifth and his 1st of the season. Half time arrived with us 5nil to the good.

Second half saw Douglas put in a spirited 20 mins and they scored a well deserved goal after 54mins to narrow the gap. With all 4 subs on it took us a while to get going again and the Douglas goal seemed to get the best out of us. For the last 20mins we were camped in the Douglas half, a Conor strike hit the post, sub Alvaro Miguel dragged his shot just wide, then on 69mins fellow sub China Igboanusi powered through to finish well to make it 6-1. Another crisp move saw China released and again he finished well to make it 7-1, with time up he was not to be denied and after rounding the keeper he completed his hat-trick to make it 8-1, what an impact sub an 11 minute hat-trick.

A good win, apart from 20mins in the second half we played some great football from back to front passing the ball extremely well. Stand out performers though were Aaron who had a storming 1st half, Kyle with his general play and three great strikes, and China with his 11 minute hat-trick. MOM award this week again very difficult, but Kyle would just edge it from China.

1. Joseph Wyer 2. Aaron Butler  3. David Murphy 4. James Leahy 5. Cormac Beausang 6. Ryan Denny 7. Killian Browne 8. Kyle McCarthy 9. Conor Fitzgerald 10. Jack Enright 11. Dylan Casey 12. Russ Cummins 13. Alvaro Miguel 14.China Igboanusi 15. Andy McMahon

League v Greenwood on Saturday 10th September 2011
Greenwood 1-2 Midleton
Conor Fitzgerald 2
.
First away game of the season and after a strong second half performance we ran out winners in the end. Playing against the strong wind in the first half we struggled to settle and after 10mins Greenwood took the lead when we failed to cut out a long ball. Chances were limited for both sides as defences were on top, but after 28mins Seanaidh Smyth was unlucky when his shot hit the post following a corner. Half time score 1-0 to Greenwood.

Playing with the wind in the second half saw us put in a much better display, with skipper Kyle McCarthy switched back to midfield, and Seanaidh and Garan Manley to the fore we take the game to Greenwood. The equaliser arrived on 46mins after a mazy run by Garan, Conor Fitzgerald hit a fine strike to level the game. With subs Jack Enright and Russ Cummins adding purpose to our game our passing game began to flow and on 60 mins Conor added our second of the game to give us the lead. We could have added a third with a little more luck in front of goal but for the last five minutes Greenwood poured forward looking for the equaliser but with Cormac Beausang and Ryan Denny standing firm to the challenge ably assisted by Aaron Butler and two fine saves by Joe Wyer in goal we secured the victory.

A good win, again with a all round team performance from 1 to 15, all four subs played their part, the back five all played well, giving very little away, Seanaidh and Kyle both had great games at the heart of the midfield, assisted by Garan who had a storming 20mins after half time and Conor was on hand to finish off the chances. MOM award this week again very difficult, so it will have to be shared between Seanaidh, Garan and Kyle.

1. Joseph Wyer 2. Aaron Butler  3. Dylan Casey 4. Seanaidh Smyth 5. Cormac Beausang 6. Ryan Denny 7. Killian Browne 8.Kyle McCarthy 9.Conor Fitzgerald 10. James Leahy 11. Garan Manley 12. Russ Cummins 13. David Murphy 14. Jack Enright 15. Alavro Miguel

League v Buttevant on 27th August 2011
Midleton 8-0 Buttevant
Conor Fitzgerald 3, Kyle McCarthy 2, Andy McMahon 2, Killian Browne.

First game of the new season and minus seven players due to holidays and injuries we took to the pitch with the bare eleven players and 80 minutes of football ahead of us. We should not have worried as the eleven who played put in a fine performance comfortable running out 8nil winners. We took the lead after 7mins when a nice pass by James Leahy was finished well by Conor Fitzgerald. For the remainder of the half we were camped in the Buttevant box as numerous chances came and went. Eventually another sweeping move on 34mins was finished at the back post by Andy McMahon who was making his debut for us. The half time score 2-0.

Playing against the wind in the second half we upped the ante and scored 3 goals in six minutes, the 1st on 46mins after a good pass by Andy, Killian Browne finished with a good strike. Conor added his second and then another to complete his hat-trick on 52mins. We were now firmly in control with Kyle and James controlling the middle and Dylan Casey and Killian adding width on the wings.

Another good move gave skipper Kyle McCarthy his 1st of the season on 70mins and then on 71mins Kyle pulled back to let Andy score his 2nd of the match. We were not finished as James speed through to leave Kyle with an easy tap for his second and our eight goal of the match.

All in all a good all round team performance from 1 to 11, the back five were in total control, as were the midfield who supplied plenty of ball to Conor and Andy. Thanks to Andy and Cathal Martin from the u14s who both played very well, we also wish Jamie Warrington a speedy recovery from injury. MOM award this week very difficult so the whole team who played deserve to share the award.

1. Joseph Wyer 2. Cathal Martin  3. David Murphy 4. James Leahy 5. Jack Enright 6. Ryan Denny 7. Killian Browne 8.Kyle McCarthy 9.Conor Fitzgerald 10. Andy McMahon 11. Dylan Casey

Under-15A 2011/12

League away to Watergrasshill United on Saturday 16th January
W atergrasshill United 3 Midleton A 2

This was one of our crunch games this season the result did not go our way and harsh lessons were learned. Watergrasshill were first to open the scoring totally against the play a goal not deserved because in the first half Midleton fought very hard and had the upper hand and were winning the battle. After there first goal Midleton kept cool heads and through Ansou Konde brought the score board back to 1 each. During this first half Midleton did not make the most of having most of the play.

Second half Midleton took the foot off the gas and this let Watergrasshill gain minute by minute in confidence and they did again. Another goal went into the Midleton net it again was a scrappy goal that Midleton defence failed to clear again ten minutes this happened again another goal by watergrasshill again same type of goal Midleton defence failed to clear a cross and it ended up in the net at this stage game was over Midleton had droped there heads.Ten minutes to go midleton got a little revival and started to play again and scored a goal this time by sub Shane Murphy but time ran out to quickly for us and the score remained 3 to 2 to the home side. Conditions at Watergrasshill were terrible pitch was literly like a ploughed field and a very strong wind troughtout the game helped neither side but conditions were the same for both sides. Midleton players should be greatful for the great pitches that exist in Midleton and all facilities especially when they see what other clubs have to deal with so thanks to Midleton grounds commitee.

Summary we believe the best team lost but the lesson learned is we have to keep up a high level of intent for the full game not just one half. League is still there to play for a lot of games left to play but this team has a lot of hard games ahead. Man of the match for Midleton was Cian Savage but all players played well at different stages Shane Murphy replaced Brendan McCarthy and Eoghan Collins replaced Tadgh Collins.
So lets look forward to better days well done lads.

League home to Crosshaven on Sunday 18th December
Midleton A 6 Crosshaven 0

Midleton U15A team went into this game with several players injured they had the right frame of mind going in to the game, and that was to come away with a win, another one in the bag and closer to the ultimate goal of a league win. Midleton took control of the game from the word go and by half time they had 5 goals in the bag the game was over as a competition. Ansou again scored another hat trick, 3 well taken goals, he was given 3 great passes to achieve this. Also Jack Farmer and Shane Murphy scored a goal each in this half. Midleton had all the play and well deserved there lead.

The second half again saw Midleton take control but not with the same determination as can be expected but this half saw Audrey Thsimanga take a great pass from Aaron Hennessy he took it down the right wing beating two players and finishing well in the corner or the net a well taken goal well done Audrey but at this stage the contest was over Midleton had several other chances but failed to put them away all in all it was a very good day out pushing us closer to a league win. The man of the match was the team not one player stood out over the rest it was a team effort this time round.

Team was Colin Dempsey O'Reilly keeper, Fenian Murphy right full back, Tadgh Gilroy centre back, Eoghan Colling centre back, Cormac Lynch left full back, right winger was Cian McNerney, centre of the park was Jack Farmer and Aaron Hennessy and left winger was Audrey Thsimanga, the two strikers were Ansou Konde and Shane Farmer. Subs that came on were Aldas Venckus who played very well and Fergal Roche who also played very wel. Special thanks to Cian Savage who turned up on the day but was very sick thanks again Cian also others who were injured were Luke Finerty and Brendan McCarthy who also turned up to cheer there team mates on well done lads. Great display over all this team has a strong squad and great team spirit keep it up guys .

Midleton had a mixed day out against bottom of league Ballincollig A. First half saw Midleton with alot of the play with little effect, conditions were bad as pitch was very badly cut up, Ballincollig operated the off side trap very well catching midleton several times half time score was Midleton 1 goal Ballincollig.

Second half saw Midleton gain more control of the game especially in midfield ten minutes in saw Ansou Konde strike again for the second time his efforts deserved his reward of 3 goals in total five minutes later he again found the target. At this stage Midleton found a second gear and dominated the game we put five subs on during the next ten minutes which did not weaken our control of the game coming on was Cian Savage who played very well Eoghan Collins who also performed very well Shay O'Gorman who also played well Thomas Desmond performed very well and Shane Murphy who scored a goal after coming on. This game was well won in the end but Ballincollig gave us a couple of scares in both halves.

Man of the Match was Ansou Konde with his hat trick. Well done lads over all.

Team was 1.Colin Dempsey O'Reilly 2.Cormac Lynch 3.Luke Finerty 4.Tadgh Gilroy 5.Fenian Murphy
6.Aaron Hennessy. 7.Brendan McCarthy 8. Ansou Konde 9.Jack Farmer 10.Cian McNerney 11.Audrey Tshimanga

League at home to Carrigaline Hibs on Sunday 6th November
Midleton A 5 Carrigaline Hibs 2

From the word go Midleton looked the better team having most of the play but having trouble finishing until Brendan McCarthy sent in a high ball catching the Hibs keeper off guard, great goal that we needed. Then we had Cian McNearney getting his first of his hat trick great goal from a cross from Aaron Hennessy. Carrigaline came back with a scrambled goal Midleton failed to clear. Half time Midleton 2 goals to 1.

Midleton started the second half under pressure fron the Carrigaline team but the defence for Midleton stood firm defending well then Cian McNearney struck again this time from a corner great header into the back of the net, well taken goal. After a few minutes Midleton gained control and after a near miss by Jack Farmer he soon found the target for a great goal. Ball passed behind the defence by Brendan McCarthy and Jack finished well. Then again we relaxed a little and let Carrigaline back into the game for a period of ten minutes and they again scored a goal from a corner again scrambled to the net. After this period Midleton took control again and Cian McNearney again struck the back of the net from a cross by Jack Farmer great strike great goal, goal of the match.

This week we have to give Man of the Match to Cian McNearney for 3 great goals and a great all round display well done Cian. Special thanks to captain Tadgh Gilroy who led the defence in the first half with his usual strong performance. Second half Tadgh went into goal to let other members of the squad come on from the bench sub Declan Kelly came on and played very well making his mark on this team Aldas Venckus came on in defence and played his usual sturdy defensive game and Eoghan Collins came on and again played his usual fearless game at centre of defence good game for all keeping us on track to do well in this division.

National Cup away to Springfield Ramblers on 24th September
Springfield Ramblers 1 Midleton 0

Brave Midleton U15A team played against premier league leaders in National Cup. Midleton a 3rd division team and midleton's u15 second team took Ramblers to extra time and only lost out in last minute of extra time.

The story of this game was summed up by the Rramblers manager when he entered our dressing room after the game to say a few words when he said he has never seen a team with such determination and heart and that we had something very special and this was so very true. Ramblers deserved there win as they were the better football team on the day with most chances but the heroes of the day were Midleton. The under dogs from the word go, these lads displayed a never say die attitude that would inspire anyone. These boys played there hearts out, never stopped running even when beaten. Cobh could not penetrate the Midleton defence in 98 minutes of football.

In goals for Midleton was Colin Dempsey O'Reilly who saved Midleton on several ocasions during the game. This lad played a brilliant game and gave a great display of goal keeping which all at game apreciated and showed it too our defenders were Finian Murphy, Luke Finerty, Tadgh Gilroy (captain) and Cormac Lynch. These lads played like heroes all through the game never giving up despite the pressure they were under. Tadgh Gilroy playing a true captain's part leading by example our midfield of Cian McEnerney, Aaron Hennessy , Shay O'Gorman and Audrey Tshimanga also played there hearts out. Up front were Ansou Konde and Jack Farmer who gave Ramblers a couple frights. Shay O'Gorman came off injured and replaced by Cian Savage and Fergal Roche replaced Aaron Hennessy. Both subs played great and this team should hold there heads up high and look forward to the rest of the league season one, which they will play a big part in the closing stages. So well done lads a display of courage never say die attitude showing bravery and heart keep it up.

League v Crosshaven on Sunday 28th
Crosshaven 2 Midleton 1
Goal scorer Jack Farmer

Midleton playing their first match of the season fought very well and the game was end to end in the first half with Midleton going into half time 1 goal down.
The second half  Midleton found themselves down another goal after 10 min. From this point on Midleton started to take control of the game and played most of the second half in the Crosshaven half putting them under pressure all the way Jack Farmer was unlucky more than once and Ciam McInerney was also unlucky several times as was Audrey Tshimanga, Aaron Hennessy and Shane Murphy who all had several chances eventuially Jack Farmer headed one past a very good Crosshaven keeper.
Crosshaven defense was solid but Midleton deserver at worst a draw if not the win.
Players who played well for Midleton, Jack Farmer man of the match, Shay O'Gorman, Aaron Hennessy, Tadgh Gilroy, Cian McInerney, Luke Finerty, Audrey Tshimanga, overall good football played by Midleton unlucky with final result.
The team is much improved since last year and it shows in there first game out but they are in very tough division and looks like very interesting season ahead.

Under 15 2010/11 Division 1

League home to Youghal United on Sat 12th Feb
Midleton 2 - 1 Youghal United
Scorers Abimbola Bello and Patrice Tshmanga
Youghal are always a tough side to come up against, and this match was no different. The sides traded blows for 20 minutes in a very even start, before a Jamie Stack corner was forced home at close range by Patrice Tshmanga to give Midleton the lead. Five minutes later an almost identical goal doubled their lead, as this time centre-back Abimbola Bello headed home from two yards out after a scramble from another well-placed
corner from Jamie Stack.
Youghal always looked dangerous on the break, however, and pulled a goal back after a Midleton attack broke down, getting forward quickly and scoring from 12 yards after beating the off-side trap. Midleton worked extremely hard for the whole game, and created five or six very good chances to extend their lead
in the second half, but still managed to hang on for a well deserved victory.
Star players for Midleton were Patrice Tshmanga, Sean O'Farrell, Padraig Nagle and goalkeeper Josh Deady.

League away to Avondale Utd on Sat 5th Feb
Avondale Utd 5 - 3 Midleton

Midleton Scorers: Abimbola Bello, Jamie Stack and David Williams.
In dreadful conditions, Avondale took advantage of winning the toss to use the hill and strong wind to build a two goal lead in the first half that Midleton never recovered from. Although 3-0 and 4-1 down in the second half, Midleton came back to 4-3 and piled on the pressure in the last minutes, but were undone by conceding a penalty in the last two minutes to stop the fightback.
Sean O'Farrell, James Lawton and David Williams shone for Midleton.
