Under 14 Premier Division

National Cup away to Mallow on Sunday 6th November
Mallow 2 Midleton 3

Midleton away to Mallow and what a performance, the 3-2 scoreline doesnt do Midleton justice.
Against a very big and physical Mallow team Midleton won the battle and played great football. Mallow were restricted to the long ball such was the dominance of the Midleton players. Mallow have to thank their goalkeeper in the fist half for keeping the game scoreless at HT 0-0.

Second half the same as the first Midleton on top with Jamie the safe hands Clohessey in goal, Ryan O'Reagan a brilliant display at right back also Paudrig O'Brien great as always, the giant Eoghan Cronin playing very well, and Ross O'Connor yet another great faultless display they were a tight unit linking up with the impressive midfield display of Garen Manley, Matthew Lamb, Luke Mylod and Barry O'Callahan. The 2 forwards of China Igboanusi and the tireless display of Christian Daly.
Matthew Lamb came off with Steven Roe coming on with Steven not putting a foot wrong great display.
Mallow took a surprising lead with 10 minutes to go yet another long ball forward and thier striker getting on the end of it 1-0 down.

But you can never right this team off and with 8 mins to go a great Midleton move down the right with Ryan playing the ball to Barry who whipped in the ball and the impressive again Luke getting his head on it 1-1 Midleton should have had a pen when Garen was broght down but the ref waved it away heading to extra time 1-1 FT

Midleton were looking stronger all over the pitch and their deserved second came from Garen with great work on the left from Ross who won a free kick delivered a stunning ball in the ball falling to Garen who leashed an unstoppable shot into the top corner 2-1. China came off with Eoghan Mitchell coming on and doing very well. Midleton's third came from the penalty spot were there was only going to be one outcome, the form Christian showed today was first class a deserved 12th goal of the season to cap a great display. Mallow got 1 back but it was never going to be enough.
A great diplay from the lads today best of the season so far, Corinthians in the next round we owe them one. Well done lads.

National Cup at home to St Mary's on Sunday 16th October
Midleton 5 St Mary's 1

St Marys were the visitors today, the second round of the national cup. Midleton were always going to be favourites in this game. It wasnt a vintage performance by Midleton, but when a team doesnt play well and win, and win well its the sign of a great team. Midleton went ahead when the ball rebounded off their keeper and there was the captain Garan Manley in the right place at the right time to head over the line.1-0, the second goal didnt take long to come, when the tigerish midfielder Matthew Lamb hit an unstoppable shot from 30 yards that left their keeper rooted to the spot 2-0. The third goal, and what a goal again a great midleton move with Ross OConner whipped in a glorious cross and Ryan ORegan coming in with a diving header in the top corner what a goal 3-0. H/T

Second half there was 4 Subs made with Andrew Mcmahon, Steven Roe, Eoin Mitchell, and Ryan Hogan all coming on and played well. St Marys managed to get a goal back,  a bit of a mix up in Midletons defence 3-1, but as Midletons never say die attitude, they done what they do best straight up the other end and Luke Mylod getting his first of the game making it 4-1. Midletons 5th goal came again from Luke (Foxy) Mylod with an auditious Lob that had the keeper struggling to get back who could only help the ball into the net 5-1. Since Luke joined the team at the start of the season he has been fantastic find. Keep up the good work. FT 5-1. Mallow away in the next round and lets see if we can get a trip to dublin again.

Team - 1.Timmy Abdullar, 2 Cahill Martin, 3. Ross OConnor, 4. Paudrig OBrien, 5. China Igboanusi, 6. Matthew Lamb, 7. Garan manley, 8. Ryan ORegan, 9. Luke Mylod, 10. Christian Daly, 11. Barry OCallaghan.
Subs - Andrew McMahon, Steven Roe, Ryan Hogan, Eoin Mitchell.

League away to Avondale United on Sunday 9th October
Avondale United 0 Midleton 7

After last weeks disappointment defeat to Corinthians, Midleton had to come back strongly, and they done that in style today. What a first half performance they played premiership football on what was a cow field of a pitch. It was all Midleton straight from the whistle. The first goal came when Luke Mylod was put through he still had a bit to do, he shrugged off the defender and found the bottom corner ,1 up.
Relentless Midletons pressure paid off with an unlikely goalscorer Paudrig O'Brien, he hit a shot from 40 yards, that left the keeper with no chance, through his legs. Midleton were on a roll, the third goal came from a stunning volley from Garen Manley. Now it was Barry O'Callaghan turn to get on the score sheet with a sweet turn and shot in the bottom corner. The fifth goal was the goal  of the game, with yet again the impressive Cristian Daly beating the defender and a wonderful cross to Garen to head home his second of the game. Just before halftime China Igboanusi got in on the act from a corner, China was first to react and a sweet volley from 2 yards out but what a perfomance from the back to the front, with Jamie Clohessey in goal the solid defence of Paudrig O'Brien, China Igboanusi, Ross O'Connor and Cathil Martin. The midfield quartet of Garen Manley, Matthew Lamb, Ryan ORegan and Luke Mylod and the 2 super strikers of Christian Daly and Barry O'Callaghan. 6-0 H/T.

Second half Midelton made changes with Andrew McMahon, Steven Roe, Corey Mackasey, Ryan Hogan and Eoghan Mitchell all coming on and it was much the same as the first half, with Midleton all the play.  Garen capping off a great display with a superb free kick his hat trick and Midleton's seventh. Well done to the lads best football of the season on what has to be said a truly shocking pitch.

League at home to Corinthians on Sunday 2nd October
Midleton 0 Corinthians 1

Top of the table clash against a strong Corinthians team. A very close encounter, were the game could of went either way, nothing much to seperate the teams.
The defences were on top with China Igboanusi, Paudi OBrien, Ross OConnor, Cathal Martin standing their ground and playing good football out from defence ,the Midfield battling display from Garren Manley, Matthew Lamb, Barry OCallaghan, and the impressive Ryan OReagan figthting for every ball, Linking up with the energetic Christian Daly and Luke Mylod. The first half was very tight and Corinthians got their goal from a deflection. the ball bounced off the unlucky Coggs who could do nothing 1 0 Corinthians. 0-1 HT

Second half Garren had to go in the back with his hamstring injury with China moving in the middle, Corinthians started off better and had a great chance but Jamie made a world class save tipping the ball over the bar, a premiership save. Midleton came back into the game passing the ball around and getting forward a lot more with 2 mins to go garren moved up front and it nearly paid off his trusty left foot this time leaving him down, with the ball just going over the bar. It was Midletons first defeat of the season but the lads played the hearts out and deserved to get something out of the game. Keep up the good work.

League at home to Douglas Hall 18th September 2011
Midleton 2 Douglas Hall 1

Midleton went into this game with three wins out of three a great start with it being the first season in the prem. Douglas Hall were the visitors who are lying third in the league, so it was always going to be a tough game. Midleton got off to the worst start possible, a goal down after 2 mins, from a corner Midleton got caught cold 1- 0 to Douglas, it was a pretty poor first half with not many chances, but Douglas nearly made it 2-0, but with Jamie Clohessey in goal he made a cracking save, a one on one Jamie came out on top. Midleton were always pressing then came thier breakthrough right on the stroke of half time. Matthew Lamb sent in a great corner it fell to Paudi O'Brien who controlled it with his face and set up Luke Mylod who lashed the ball into the back of the net 1-1 H/T

Second half it was all one way traffic to Midleton, they looked a different team. Playing the ball out from the back with China, Ross O' Connor, Paudi O'Brien and Luke Mylod all looking very composed on the ball, the midfield with Garren Manley, Matthew Lamb, Ryan O'Regan and Barry O'Callaghan winning everything coming their way and playing nice football. Up front was the battling display of Christian Daly and Andrew McMahon. Rian Hogan came on for Andy. Welcome back Rian who has been out with an injury. Rian went to left back, pushing Luke up front and it paid off, another slick move by Midleton that sent Luke through on goal, with his right foot he placed the ball in the bottom corner of the goal 2-1 Midleton, a well deserved lead. Midleton had a couple of more chances for a comfortable lead but their goalkeeper made 2 great saves and a couple of shots that shaved the post. Well done lads off to a great  start 4 wins out 4. Keep doing what your doing and who knows you you might be lifting the cup at the end of the season. F/T 2-1

League home to Mallow 4th September 2011
Midleton 2 Mallow 1

Midletons first home game of the season against Mallow. This was always going to be a hard game against a very big and physical team. Midleton got off to a great start with Jamie Clohessey in goal for the first time and what a display. A great kick from Jamie straight up to Christian Daly who showed strength and determinaton to get to the ball and tucked it away 1-0 Midleton. Mallow came straight back but our defence stood firm with Cathal Martin, Paudraig O'Brien, China Igboanusi, Ross O'Connor and Steven Roe up against it. Mallow got a penalty with a dubious decision from a dubious ref. Mallow tucked it away with no chance for Jamie 1-1 Then came our break with Paudraig O'Brien who shot from 100 yards out and their goalkeeper and defender getting mixed up own goal, sorry Paudi your not having it.  HT.2 1

Ryan O'Regan came on in the second half with a solid display but Midleton were up against it for most of the second half but Barry O'Callaghan, Matthew Lamb, Andrew McMahon and Luke Mylod in midfield and Christian who had the hardest job on the pitch as the lone striker battled superbly battling for every ball. Eoghan Mitchell came on and was very solid.  Midleton rode their luck a bit for the last 15 mins, but the lads battled immensly and should have had a penalty also. but you need luck in games.

The ref played three mins injury time but the lads held on. 2 wins out of 2 great start. With the man of the match going to Jamie he was outstanding in goal today. Also a close second was Christian who ran his socks off the whole game keep it up lads. F/T 2-1

League away to Ballincollig 28th August 2011
Ballincollig 1 Midleton 2

Well the new season is here in the premiership, and we had a tough opening game away to Ballincollig. With only 5 mins  gone Ballincollig had a free kick 35 yards out, the free went high into the air and the sun must have got into Coreys eyes"unlucky", when the ball fell to one of their fowards" a goal down". We have two new players to the team the little and large show the giant Eoghan Cronin and the skillfull battling left winger Luke Mylod who were very impressive on their debuts. Midleton got the goal back which was fully deserved by the very impressive yet again Christian Daly, a corner was swung in a few bounces and cristian pounced H/T 1-1.

The second half much the same as the first, both teams battling with Matthew Lamb and Barry O'Callaghan fighting for every ball then we took the lead and what a goal straight from defence to attack and what a finish Christian with his second goal of the game unleashing a super shot into the top corner 2 keepers wouldnt have saved it. Our defence stood firm with Ross O'Connor, Paudraig O'Brien ,Eoghan Cronin,  Cathal Martin  and Steven Roe clearing everthing that came their way, a great battling display from midfield from Matthew, Barry , China Igboanusi, Andy McMahon, Luke. With Jamie Clohessey coming on 10 mins to go to keep everything steady.

The man of the match award has to go to Christian not only for his 2 goals but his all round display of never giving up and chasing everything, keep it up, also another mention to the two new lads who played like they have been with the team years well done Eoghan and Luke.  F/T 1 2

League away to Leeds on Saturday 7th January
Leeds 1 Midleton A 2
Scorers - Barry Kenneally and Kevin Daly
Midleton U14A Win Away to Leeds

Midleton U14A travelled to Leeds Park to take on a strong Leeds outfit that was third in the league. The game got off to a bad start for Midleton A with a soft penalty given after 3 minutes which was well finished to give Leeds the lead.

However, Midleton A held their shape and resolve and slowly started to dominate in midfield. After 20 minutes, Midleton A got a penalty of their own, after a trip on the edge of the box but it was pulled wide by Cameron Smyth. However, the team rallied well after this set back and held firm until half-time.

After the break Midleton A continued to work hard as a team and the introduction of Conor Meade and David Jalill in Midfield added some fresh legs as the game opened up.

On 55 minutes good play from the impressive Kevin Mulcahy put through Cameron Smyth on the right of the box and his shot was deflected to Barry Kenneally in front of goal and he finished well from close range. With the game very tight Conor White made a great save after a Leeds shot hit the bar and fell to their striker six yards out. White recovered well and bravely blocked the rebound to keep the impetus with Midleton A.

This gave Midleton A a real boost and Mulcahy and Meade continued to push forward on the left of midfield. It was from here that Mulcahy again put in a cross from the left that was flicked on by Smyth to Kevin Daly at the back post who had an easy tap in. This gave Midleton A a deserved lead.

With 15 minutes to go Leeds started to push forward and Smyth and Mulcahy were both brought back to protect the defence. They both made several interceptions in the final minutes that kept Leeds at bay and Midleton A held on for a great win away from home. Report by Colm Smyth.

League at home to Carrigtwohill United on Sunday 11th December
Midleton 1 Carrigtwohill United 4

A gripping game of soccer for 62 mins of the 70 mins with both sides having their chances. Then in the last few minutes the heavy ground took its tool and Carrigtwohill won through. A tight first half was marked by a couple of brilliant saves from Conor White in the Midleton A goal and both sides had chances that needed better finishing. However it was 0-0 at half time.

The second half continued in the same vein with both sides pushing hard but it looked like it would end 0-0 and this would have been a fair result. However, Carrigtwohill kept pushing and a great dribble down the left wing by their number 8 went all the way and he toe poked it in at the near post.

Midleton A were not to be beaten though and great work down the left wing by Cameron Smyth led to a cross that was bundled in by Xavier at the near post. It looked like this might be it but Carrigtwohill continued to break at will and a couple of high balls into the box created confusion and the rebounds fell to Carrig, they were 3-1 up with 4 minutes. The final goal came from a 30 yard free that hit the roof of the net and Carrigtwohill went home victorious.

League at home to Churchvilla on Sunday 2nd October
Midleton 2 Churchvilla 4
Midleton A fall short against Churchvilla.

In a pulsating game played in continuous rain, the U14 A team narrowly lost out to Churchvilla.

With both teams evenly matched over the first 20 minutes it took a great bit of work from Cameron Smyth to open up the Churchvilla defence. After a long clearance from David Jalil in the Midleton A defence Smyth chased the ball down the left, beat two defenders and calmly slid the ball across the goal for Barry Kenneally to score from close range. However, the lead did not last long and within 2 minutes Churchvilla had struck back after a mix up in the Midleton A defence which let Churchvilla find space on the edge of the box and they shot into the far corner from 15 yards. Midleton A continued to push forward and on the stroke of half time Kevin Mulcahy, who was having another good game in Midfield, latched on to a loose ball and crossed from the by-line to Kenneally at the back post and he finished with a great header into the corner.

After half time Churchvilla made a few changes that brought additional pace up front and this put Midleton A under pressure. On 43 minutes the ball was played across the box and was eventually controlled by a Churchvilla player who fired in a low shot to make it 2-2.

The match continued to ebb and flow with both sides coming close and the combination of Conor Meade; Sean O'Meara, Kevin Daly and Mulcahy in Midfield was producing some good possession that allowed Smyth and Kenneally up front to put Churchvilla under pressure. However their defence held firm and it was Churchvilla who got the break on 50 minutes when a breaking ball outside the box was sent flying high into the Midleton A net giving Conor Evans no chance of reaching it. Midleton A fought back and almost got on even terms with more good work from Mulcahy and O'Meara down the right, but the Churchvilla defence did a good job and the final ball to Smyth, who again worked hard all through the game, was cut out on several occasions.

The final goal for Churchvilla came on 60 minutes when a hopeful ball up front was deflected into the box and the Midleton A keeper was beaten to the ball as it was headed in from 8 yards. The Churchvilla player was clearly off side when the initial ball was played but the ref let it stand and the final result stood at 2-4 to Churchvilla.
The quality of the Midleton A goals and the good work all through the team deserved more out of the game and they were unfortunate not to get a draw. Report by Colm Smyth.

National Cup at home to Blarney United on 25th September
Midleton A 0  Blarney United 4

Midleton A lose to Blarney in National Cup. It was the first round of the National Cup and Midleton A from Division 4 were drawn against Blarney United, unbeaten in Division 1.

With a tough match in prospect the team needed a strong performance from everyone and although the score line suggests otherwise, it was a hard fought contest throughout and one that shows Midleton A are improving every week.
Midleton A got off to a great start and controlled the game for the first 10 minutes. However on 13 minutes Blarney got a rare cross in from the left and it was side footed home at the near post. The remainder of the first half was strongly fought by Midleton A and they just lacked the final through ball to create a clear chance.

After half time Blarney came into the game and their superior size started to have an effect. On 42 minutes they got a corner and the ball squirmed through a myriad of legs before being tapped home at the back post. It was a bad goal for Midleton A to concede.
The pressure continued but Midleton A defended very well and it took an opportunistic lob from 20 yards after a cleared corner on 45 minutes to beat the keeper. The fourth goal came on 60 minutes as a result of a high cross that was dropped by the keeper and toe poked into the net from 2 yards.
Throughout the match Midleton A worked tirelessly as a team and deserved more from the match. Discounting a couple of soft goals conceded it was a good overall performance and one that will stand them in good stead in their next league match. Report by Colm Smyth.

Leaguer away to Corkbeg in Whitegate on Saturday 17th September
Corkbeg 2   Midleton A 3

Midleton A Hold Firm to Win Against Corkbeg
This local derby proved to be an excellent game and after a loss in their first match the Midleton ‘A’ lads had something to prove and they did it in style.

With a perfect pitch to play on Midleton ‘A’ started the game brightly and a five man midfield, with Kevin Mulcahy and Barry Kenneally working hard to give possession to Conor Meade who used the ball effectively getting both Cian Walsh and David Jalil on both wings into the game early.

The Midleton ‘A’ defence where holding a tight formation at the back forcing Corkbeg out wide and the back four of Dylan Wright; Patrick Horgan, Cillian Brouder and Eolann Shanahan made easy work of the Corkbeg attack.

After 10 minutes the Midleton ‘A’ pressure set Cian Walsh free on the right and he played an excellent pass to Barry Kenneally who after a good piece of work on the edge of the box played a low cross that was met with perfect timing by Cameron Smyth who was playing as a lone striker and he slotted it home passed the advancing keeper. It was a well deserved lead.

This gave the Midleton ‘A’ lads a lot of confidence and they dominated the Midfield. On the 15 minute mark a series of 1-2s between Meade, Kenneally and Walsh opened up the defence and a neat pass by Walsh to Smyth put him through and after holding off a strong challenge from the defender, he found the corner of the net with a great finish.

At this point Corkbeg lifted their game and started to explore the wings as the centre halves for Midleton ‘A’ were unbeatable. This paid off after 19min with a strong run down the right finished with a low shot that was parried by Conor White in the Midleton ‘A’ goal only to fall to a Corkbeg player who had a simple finish from 6 yards to make it 1-2.

The next 10mins showed a more even contest and it took another great run from Smyth who had pulled out to the right to pick up the ball and then took on the right full back and used his strength and speed to break through the defence. He slipped a pass through to Kenneally who blasted into the roof of the net from 10 yards. With two goals to his name and an assist, Smyth was having a great game and Corkbeg were struggling to deal with his pace and strength.

After the half-time break it was Corkbeg who showed the greater intensity and Midleton ‘A’ were forced to defend deep and in numbers to with-stand the attacks. Eventually after 50 minutes Corkbeg did get the break through. With the Midleton ‘A’ defence standing firm, Corkbeg had to shoot from distance and it was one of these shots from just outside the right edge of the 18 yard box that looped over White and the game was now 2-3 to Midleton with 20 minutes to go.

At this point the legs were getting tired on the Midleton ‘A’ team and both Owen Cashman and Dylan Hallinan came on into the midfield to give some cover for the defence. This proved to be effective and with continued good work from Kenneally and Mulcahy, the midfield started to fight again for possession and take the pressure of the defence. The rest of the game pulsated from end to end without and clear chances and Midleton ‘A’ held on for a well deserved victory. Report by Colm Smyth.

Goal Scorers: Cameron Smyth 2, Barry Kenneally.

League at home to Leeds on Sunday 4th Septmeber
Midleton A 3 Leeds 5

Midleton A lose out to strong Leeds team
Midleton ‘A’ played a fine first half against a strong Leeds team but a high wind and some excellent work by Leeds gave them the edge.

With a strong wind blowing from end to end this game was always going to decided by which defence could cope better. Unfortunately, the Midleton ‘A’ team struggled in the final 20 minutes and Leeds took full advantage.

The game started well and good work from both Kevin Daly and Cian Walsh on the wings put Leeds under immense pressure. After only 6 minutes, Walsh received a great ball from Cameron Smyth and his low shot found the far corner of the net after a mistake from the Leeds keeper.

This gave Midleton ‘A’ a lift and they pushed hard for a second with good work in Midfield from Conor Evans and Conor Meade. The second eventually came on the 17th minute when Walsh again picked up the ball on the right and a speculative shot drifted in to the far right corner of the net. It was well deserved and Walsh was playing well on the wing.

What should have been a foundation for a strong performance was quickly shattered when Leeds broke from the restart and a through ball was finished well against Conor White in the Midleton ‘A’ goal. This gave Leeds the kick start they needed and it was only some find keeping from White that kept the score at 2-1 at half time.

With the wind behind them Leeds started the second half with purpose and immediately put Midleton ‘A’ under pressure and with the ball bouncing around the box it was Leeds who stabbed it in from 6 yards to make it 2-2.
Midleton ‘A’ lifted their game after this and for the next 10 minutes both teams were evenly matched. On the 44th minute more good work from Walsh on the right led to a high cross into the Leeds box and when the keeper fumbled, Barry Kenneally was on hand to toe poke the ball into the net and restore the advantage.

It was at this point that Leeds started to use the wind and in a 15 minute spell they scored three times. On each occasion the Midleton ‘A’ defence lost their positions and with gaps appearing, simple through balls put Leeds one-on-one with the keeper and White had no chance. With the game secure at 5-3 to Leeds the final 10 minutes passed without event and Midleton ‘A’ were left to rue some simple mistakes after what was a good first 45 minutes. Report by Colm Smyth.

Midleton ‘A’ Goal Scorers: Cian Walsh 2, Barry Kenneally.

League away to Ballinhassig on Sat 29th October
Ballinhassig 2    Midleton  4
Scorers: Chloe Sigerson 3, Caitlin Ryan.

Midleton U14 captained by Caitlin Ryan travelled to Ballinhassig on Saturday looking for their first win of the season. This match did not disappoint and proved to be a great game with a score at half time of 2 - 2.
The second half proved to be a cracker and Chloe Sigerson who scored 2 goals in the first half scored her third goal to get her hat trick. Chloe Horgan in goal for Midleton made some fantastic saves to keep Ballinhassig from scoring as they continued to pressurise the Midleton defence and it was only when Caitlin Ryan scored Midletons 4th goal in the last 2 minutes of the game that the Midleton girls could relax.

Well done to all the girls and to Dionne Carroll who won player of the match with her slick performance as sweeper.
Team:  Caitlin Ryan, Chloe Horgan, Lily Duggan, Jane McGauran, Dionne Carroll, Charley Moore, Roisin Greenwood, Dolapo Bello, Danielle O'Donoghue, Sarah Brouder, Sarah Motalebi, Anita Carroll, Chloe Sigerson.

League at home to Crosshaven on Sat 17th September.
Midleton 0   Crosshaven  3

Midleton U14 girls played Crosshaven at home on Saturday for their first game in the U14 premier league. With the change in ages, the Midleton girls who all played U12 last year knew that they would be up against a stronger Crosshaven side. The girls played exceptionally well and the scoreline did not reflect the excellent performance that the Midleton girls displayed with the Midleton girls having most of the possesion but unable to capitalise with any scores.

This was a very even game and at the end of the first half Crosshaven were only 1 goal ahead with Midleton having had 2 great shots saved by the Crosshaven keeper and hitting the post on one. Crosshaven however were physically stronger and it was their physical presence that gave them the upper hand and they scored 2 more goals midway during the second half.

All in all a disappointing scoreline but credit to all the girls and to Chloe Horgan in goal who was voted player of the match.

Under 14 2010/11 Division 1

League away to Crosshaven on Sun 17th April
Crosshaven 1 Midleton 3

Last game of the season of a sunny afternoon in Crosshaven. Game started off very well with a goal from Andrew Williams our right back, but then Andy was a striker.
Crosshaven were on the back foot for a lot of the first half and defended well, our second came from this year's top scorer Kalem Deady. Crosshaven did get back into the game as they pulled one back. The game was settled when Killian Deady hit a shot from 25 yards into the top corner to make it three one. This year only two teams get promoted from division 1 so we will be here again next year.
On a sad note I would like to pass on our condolences to the Deady family from all the team and coaching staff. On Sunday our three players lost their grandfather John Deady. John was a great supporter of the team for many a year coming to all our games, not only to cheer on Josh, Kalum and Killian but the whole team. John will be missed but not forgotten.

League home to College Corintians on 10th April
College Corintians 1 Midleton 4
It was back to winning ways on a smashing Sunday afternoon. This game started with Midleton doing what they do best passing the ball, with some great passing from midfield to the strikers Mark Hourigan finished off with the first goal. Luke in midfield passing to Killian Deady finished off with a goal from some great play.
College Corintians got a penalty to make to 2 - 1. After the break Midleton put Corintians under pressure from the start and got our rewards from a Killian Deady goal.
Killian then picked up the ball from midfield and what a cracker for his second and our fourth. A good result and a good performance from all the players we will see next game who is top scorer.

League home to Mayfield United
Midleton 0 Mayfield United 2

First congratulations to Mayfield on their promotion to the premier league next year.
It was a good start to the game from Midleton as we had two chances to take the lead in the first half with 2 shots going wide from Kalum Deady. Mayfield took the lead in the first half from some bad passing from Midleton.
The second half saw Mayfield apply pressure and they got their rewards by getting a second. Midleton went four three three and still could not break done a very soilid Mayfield defence. So its diversion 1 next year best of luck to Mayfield.

Last 16 of the local Cup at home to Lakewood on 20th March
Midleton 1 Lakewood 2

We had a 1.15pm kick off to Lakewood at home in the local cup. Lakewood are on the top of the premier division and we out played them.
We got off to a flying start with a ball played across goal by Kalum Deady and finished by our Captain Mark Hourigan. We did not let up the pressure on lakewood and were unluckly not to go two up when Isreal Matiki hit the cross bar. Lakewood came back into the game when they scored from off side.
Second half saw Lakewood try to pressure us but we soaked it up and but pressure back on them. We again missed chances to go in front, Kalum hit the upright. With two minutes left Lakewood scored from a corner. I think Lakewood know they got out jail today but best of luck to them in the cup. But if we play like that in our last few games we will go up.

League away to Bandon
Bandon 0 Midleton 0

A game that got away we needed to win this one to keep level with Mayfield. A great start to the game as two sides went for the win. We had shots that went wide, hit the post and saves from a good Bandon keeper.
One of the best games of the season with a battle in midfield. I have to say we got a draw because of three players Cian Greene, Glen Harthy and Josh Deady. We should have won this one

Cup at home to Carrigaline United A Sunday 20th Feb
Midleton under 14s welcomed Youghal to Knockgriffin today in a local cup game. Youghal came to Midleton today and came to play a brillant game. Midleton went into the lead with a penalty scored by Kalum Deady. Youghal came back into the game just after half time. Youghal really put Midleton under presure with some brillant saves from our keeper Josh Deady who kept us in the game. Youghal took the lead and well deserved. Midleton again levelled with another penalty scored by Killian Deady.
E extra time saw Midleton unlucky and Youghal not to take the lead it could have gone either way with some greats saves from Josh Deady. It finished 2-2 after extra time. Midleton went on to win 4-3 penaly scorers Killian Deady 0 Killian Browne 1 Cian Greene 1 Isreal Matiki 1 Kevin Rohan 1 with a great save. Youghal I think will play at a higher level next year they are a good team. A brillant finish to a very tough game well done lads not never giving up.

Cup at home to Carrigaline United A Saturday 22nd Jan
Midleton 4 Carrigaline United 0
Midleton had a great start in the local cup with a comfortable win over Carrigaline United A.
Midleton put the visters under pressure from the start our first goal came from a cross into the box and our captain Mark Hourigan got his head to it and it came off a defender into the Carrigaline net. Our second again came fro a cross this time Mark put the ball into the the visitors goal. Our passing was brillant today, we played the wings and opened up the visitors. Our third goal came from our other midfield player Isreal Matiki, just to top off a great game our captain fantastic Mark Hourigan scored again.
A good game from all the lads today defence with Glen Harty, Conor Morgan, Cian Greene and Cillian Lynch were outstanding, wingers right Killian Browne got some good balls into the box, left Kalum Deady worked very hard again some great balls into the box. Our strikers worked very hard Conor Fitzegearld and Killian Deady. Subs on Kevin Rohan for Conor Fitzegerald, Luke Dineen for Killian Browne, James Carroll for Killian Deady and Dave Murphy for Glen Harthy.

League at home to Fermoy Sunday 9th Jan
Midleton 3 Fermoy 1
Midleton played there first game back from the holidays today. If ever there was a game of two halfs this was it. Midleton played well in the first half with chances coming from Israel Matiki. Fermoy put us under pressure from the start and were unlucky not to get a goal. It was Josh Deady who kept them out with brilliant defending from our back line.
We took the lead in the second half from a loose ball in the box and a clinical finish from Killian Deady. The second was from a brilliant run from Kalum Deady, what a run. The third was special, the ball came from a header down from Killian Deady to the right foot of our captain Mark Hourigan and what a finish top corner no hope for the keeper.
Fermoy got one back near the end. Brilliant team performance from all the team.

National Cup home to Corinthian Boys 27th of Nov
Midleton 0 Corinthian Boys 5
The lads put up a great first half performance against a brillant team. The first half saw Midleton nearly score from some good football from midfield to the forwards.
The second half saw Corintions turn up the pressure and run away with the game. All I can say what a team some brillant players. That's the way it gos, to take some thing out of it do or lads are showing every year what a team they can be there is hope for the future.

National Cup home to Rockmount 14th of Nov
Midleton 2 Rockmount 1
In a very tough game against Rockmount we had some very good performances from our players. Killian Deady scored both our goals, the first on 20 minutes after some hard work from David Zufia, the second on 24 minutes after Kalum chased down the Rockmount defender as he tried to shield the ball over the end line. Kalum won the ball and crossed the ball in for Killian to score. Rockmounts no.7 was running midfield for them and they got a goal back through some very good play from midfield.
At the start of the second half we were playing the better football but were unlucky in front of goal. David was inches from scoring his first goal for us after a great run from right midfield and cross from Isreal. We were under a bit of pressure for the last 10 minutes but worked hard as a unit to keep Rockmount out. A special mention to Luke Dineen for keeping Rockmounts no.7 quiet for the second half, Isreal, who worked tirelessly throughout, Kieran Maloney playing in goal for the first time and doing very well, Kalum on the left of midfield, Killian for his 2 goals and overall workrate.
The back four, especially Conor Morgan and Seanaidh Smyth and David Zufia who worked very hard for 70 minutes and deserves man of the match. Lastly our best wishes go to Josh Deady who is injured and will be out for six weeks.

League home to Blarney United 7th of Nov
Midleton 1 Blarney 2

It started so well for Midleton at home on Sunday as we went one up thanks to a header from our striker Kevin Rohan. After the restart Blarney started to pressure Midleton looking for the equilser. Midleton played very well and started to look for a second. Blarney got back into the game and then got a second. The last twenty minutes saw Midleton with all the position looking for a second goal. It was not to be, great effort from the lads.

League away to Strand United 17th of Oct
Strand United 2 Midleton 2

It was a game we knew would be a tough game ,the first half there was no score in a very tough game with 2 teams playing very well. Strand took the lead with a good header from a corner. Strand got there second from a tap in. Midleton did not look like they would get back into the game.
It was the magic of Mark Hourigan captain fantastic that went on a run from the half way line to score a brillant goal. It was the last minute of the game that we got a corner and Luke Dineen got the second from a brave header. What a come back what a team effort, congrats lads.

Natonal Cup away to Rockmount A 17th of Oct
Rockmount 1 Midleton 3
We travelled away to Rockmount on Sunday in the national cup. The game started off a brilliant for Midleton with two goals from two corners.
The first came early in thr first half when Isreal jumped above the Rockmount defence to score a cracker. The second again from the same corner but this time Mark Hourigan got to the ball first to score another brillant header. Rockmount came out in the second half a drifferent team and put Midleton under pressure. Rockmount got an early goal to make it  2-1 but Klye McCarthy scored from a loose ball in the box to make it 3-1 the first team in the next round to look forward too.

League away to Mayfield United 9th of Oct
Mayfield United 1 Midleton 3
Midleton played a brilliant game in Mayfield United. We were a goal down at half time. Once the whistle sounded the start of the second half Midleton attacked Mayfield like there were in the lead. The first goal came from Kalem Deady who scored a brilliant goal and I mean brilliant goal. The second again came from Kalem as he took on the Mayfield defence and unleashed another cracker of a goal. By then Mayfield were on the wire and then the ball came accross and Isreal Matiki struck a unstoppable shot on goal.
It was a great team performance from all the lads. What a game now with only 2 points in it who knows.

League home to College Corinthians A 3rd of Oct
Midleton 6 College Corinthians 0
Midleton had a great win against College Corinthians A at home. We went on to win 6-0 with goals from Isreal Matiki scoring 2 Kyle McCarthy scoring 1, Kalem Deady scoring 1 and Killian Deady 2. This win puts us back in the race. It was a great team performance from all the lads and a much needed as our next game is against mayfield.

League away to Fermoy 26th of Sept
Fermoy 0
Midleton 1
Our away game aginst Fermoy on sunday was a though game. The fermoy back line done a great job to keep the Midleton strikers quiet.
It took a some great passing from the midfield to Kalum Deady to score a great goal that no keeper would stop. Fermoy are a tough team and it took 2 great saves from Josh Deady to get Midleton a important away win. Well done to all the lads on a great win.

League at home to Bandon 12th Sept
Midleton 0 Bandon 3

Midleton started the game the better team. Midleton had at least 8 shots on target we just could not get the ball into the back of the net. Bandon could not get out of there own half for the first twenty minutes, a long ball from the half way line some how found its way into the back of the net. Midleton went looking for the equilser.
Bandon got ther second after our centre back got injured. Their third finished off a team that could not get back into the game. How we lost this one I dont know.

League away to Blarney United 5th of Sept
Blarney 2
Midleton 1
We played away to Blarney and we lost what was a very good game 2-1. Blarney took the lead in the first half. Kalum Deady got one back five minutes later. Midleton played some lovely football in the second half and should have gone in the lead. A mistake at the back cost Midleton the game. It was one of the best games we played and lost to a good Blarney team.

League at home to Crosshaven August 29th
Midleton got off to a great start of the season today with a win at home against Crosshaven. It was a game that could have went either way with the game at two-all for a long peroid, Crosshaven took the lead with a penalty. Midleton got back on level terms with a great goal from Kalem Deady. Midleton then went ahead with a goal from Kevin Rohan. Crosshaven came back into it with a brilliant goal. Kevin Rohan then got a second goal to put Midleton in the driving seat.
Midleton were under a lot of pressure in the last fifteen minutes as Crosshaven went looking for the draw, but it was a goal from Klye McCarthy that made it a great start of the season. Midleton to win the game 4-2.
All the lads played great with great work down the right wing from Killian Browne, the midfield was great, Kalem Deady played out of his skin with great runs down the left wing. Kevin working nonstop up front, controled the game Mark Hourigan and Luke Dineen. The four defenders of Cian Greene, Conor Morgan, Cillian Lynch and Andrew Williams had a great game. Conor Fitzegerald worked brilliant up front.
The subs that came on Glenn Harthy for Andrew Williams who had to be carried off. Killian Deady for Kevin Rohan, Klye McCarthy for Kalem Deady.
A great start more to come.

Under-14 Girls Division 1

Evening Echo Cup Semi-finals 12th March 2011
Midleton 3   Glounthaune  1

Midleton travelled to Glounthaune on Saturday for the U14 Evening Echo Cup semi-final. Both teams had met before in the league with Glounthaune coming out on top, but Midleton were confident having won their last 2 league games.
Captained by Ines Rosa, the game started with Glounthuane putting on the pressure and early breaks from Glounthaunes Nicole Cashman meant the Midleton back four of Amanda Bennett, Una O'sullivan, Rebecca O'Sullivan and Ines Rosa had to organise their game quickly and this they did. After ten minutes the Midleton girls settled into the game and Cassie Tynan and Ella Morrissey proved to be a threat to the Glounthaune defense constantly breaking forward. The first goal of the match came with a midleton corner when a defensive error from Glounthaune saw them concede an own goal. The goal boosted the comfidence of the Midleton girls and Chloe Sigerson and Megan O'Regan in midfield kept the pressure on the Glounthaune defence with Tamara Lehane making some good runs up front. Glounthaune kept pressing forward with Nicole Cashman and Moyra Morrissey and the first half ended with both teams playing equally well.

Midleton started the second half well, and by man marking  Nicole Cashman and Moyra Morrissey the game changed, making Glounthaune have to work harder. The Midleton back four were superb and flawless and a great clearance from Amanda Bennett  saw Cassie Tynan break from the halfway line where she tore apart the Glounthaune defence to score a magnificant goal. Glounthaune came back fighting with some great play from Amy McCarthy which meant that Maebh Hennessy in goal had to step up her game and this she did with some fantastic saves. With 10 minutes to go, the game was truly exciting, Rebecca Daly made some crucial tackles and cleared the ball to Caitlin Ryan who fed the ball to Chloe Sigerson who made a fantastic solo run and won herself a penalty which she duly scored. This was definitly Midletons hour, and Glounthane's Nicole Cashman scored a well goal deserved in the dying minutes. The final whistle blew and a jubilant midleton celebrated instyle as they now head to the final.
Team: Ines Rosa (Captain), Maebh Hennesey, Amanda Bennet, Rebecca O'Sullivan, Una O'Sullivan, Delapo Bello, Rebecca Daly, Meghan O'Regan, Ella Morrissey, Cassie Tynan, Chloe Sigerson, Tamara Lehane, Caitlin Ryan, Charley Moore, Danielle O'Donoghue, Sarah Brouder, Kate Noonan, Emma Murphy, Aoife O'Flynn, Jane McGauran, Chloe Horgan, Ciara Deady.

League away to Douglas Hall on Saturday 26th February
Midleton 2   Douglas Hall 1

With midterm break almost over and many players away, Midleton U14 girls travelled to Douglas Hall last Saturday with 9 players. Midleton knew they would have to work hard at this game and this game turned out to be a fantastic game and a great acheivement for the 9 Midleton girls.

The game started with Douglas Hall making the most of their advantage of a full team breaking out into the wings and forcing gaps in the Midleton defence, but a fantastic performance from the Maebh Hennessy in goal and the back four of Una O'Sullivan, Ines Rosa (captain), Amanda Bennett and Rebecca O'Sullivan kept Douglas hall from getting the first score. Midleton's first goal came after 10 minutes with great link up play from Chloe Sigerson and Megan O'Regan saw Chloe Sigerson score for Midleton. The game was on a knife edge through out with Douglas Hall attacking constantly but again great play from the Midleton backs insured Douglas Hall could not score. Ella Morrissey and Dolapo Bello in midfield had to cover the whole pitch in both attack and defence and a great break from Ella Morrisey saw Chloe Sigerson and Megan O'regan link up again and it was Megan O'Regan who scored Midletons second goal.

The first half ended with an exhausted Midleton leading 2 nil. Douglas Hall came out for the second half fighting and knowing the Midleton girls were tiring used all their substitutes to give fresh legs to the Douglas team. The Midleton girls showed great spirit, courage and committment  through out and kept Douglas Hall at bay. The last 5 minutes of the game was one of pure excitement and thrill, Douglas Hall continued to press forward and with 5 minutes to go Douglas Hall scored. Both teams for the last few minutes attacked the ball and Midleton's Una O Sullivan made a fantastic break from her back line into the Douglas hall half and Midletons Chloe Sigerson had a shot saved by the douglas hall keeper. The ball was then pumped down into the Midleton half with Douglas Hall pushing their 10 players up into the box.  Maebh Hennessy in goal for Midleton pulled off a spectacular save in the dying seconds and cleared the ball from her line just as the final whistle went. Congratulations to the Midleton girls for a fantastic performance.

Player of match Amanda Bennett.
This was a great match, and the score line did not reflect the Midleton girls performance. An outstanding performance by the Innishvilla Goalkeeper kept the Midleton girls from scoring.

This game was a thriller and the score line does not reflect the excitement of this game. Midleton played their best soccer of the season to date with 3 fantastic goals from play. Corinthians goals came from set pieces, an own goal and penalty. Well done to the girls who have proved to themselves that they have improved so much as a team and can only play better.

League v Carrigaline Sat 9th October in Knockgriffin
MIDLETON 4    CARRIGALINE 3

Midleton School Girls Under 14's, captained by Ines Rosa welcomed Carrigaline  U14's to Knockgriffin Saturday morning. Straight from kick off, it was evident that this game was going to be a battle as strong winds were a huge factor on the day. Carrigaline started well with Rachel Griffin using her height and skill to dominate the midfield  which resulted in her scoring an early goal for Carrigaline. Midleton settled into the game with all players giving their all and some great play from the midfield trio of Cassie Tynan, Martha Rubin and Iranzu Lezaun released Chloe Sigerson up front to score a fantasic goal. Midleton then found their balance and a perfect cross from Chloe Sigerson found Megan O'Regan who slotted the ball passed Carrigalines keeper. Chloe Sigerson was on a roll and 5 minutes later scored another goal for Midleton.

Carrigaline kept fighting and the Midleton back four of Amanda Bennett, Una O'Sullivan, Meabh Hennessy and Ines Rosa were put under immense pressure. Carrigalines Ellen Buckley-Keating was constantly surging forward and some great goal keeping from Ciara Deady prevented her from scoring, however she did find the net after a fine shot that hit the bar and Carrigaline were back in the game at half time with the score at 3-2.

The second half started like the first half with each time playing some fine soccer. Midletons Rebecca Daly had a fantastic game marking the tall skillfull Rachel Griffin from Carrigaline and it was her tight marking for the 2nd half that gave Midleton the upper hand. Carrigaline had the strong wind to their backs for the second half and took advantage of this and Carrigaline equalised following another goal scored by Ellen Buckley-Keating. The game was now all square but fantastic defending from Amanda Bennett who linked up with Iranzu Lezaun who had a blistering second half running at the Carrigaline defense and her hard work paid off with a fantastic solo run from the halfway line saw her score the winning goal for Midleton.
Well done to all the girls who played their hearts out.
