Under 13 Division 1 2011/12

League at away to Everton on 10th December
Everton 2
Midleton 2
Midleton started off the match the stronger team and came close to scoring just a few minutes into the game when Ciaran Newlands playayed a ball across goals it came to Evan O'Meara but the ball just slid of his boot and went wide, but this gave Midleton the confidence to push forward more and it wasn't long before Adam Wilson had a chance his shot was on target but the keeper made a fine save.

It was like this all through the first half with midletonmaking most of the breaks with some great runs down the flanks from Andrew Nestor who had a great first half and Newlands on the other side Midleton where in control in the middle of the park with Mike Kelly and Sean O'Leary commanding all around that area but when Everton did make a break they looked dangerous and they came close a couple of times Harry wall who played right back made some good tackles to keep Everton at bay.But 20 mins into the game after all Midletons hard work they let slip at the back and Everton took advantage and put the ball in the back of the net and its 1-0 Everton and it stayed that way for the first half.

Midleton started the 2nd half as strong as they did the first half but they just could not find the net and then
10 mins into the game Midleton made some changes bringing on Eoin Mitchell for Evan O'Meara and taking off Cormac Higgins and pushing Sean O'Leary to right back and bringing on Tommy O'Connell to midfield and the 2mins later Midleton get a corner and Mathew Lamb sends a great ball a cross goal its flicked over by Eoin Mitchell at the front post and its picked up by Adam wilson who half vollys it into the back of the net great goal and its 1-1 and at the this point Midleton where on fire the midfeild with Tommy O'Connell where working well with the wide players and they where putting some great balls accross and at times where cutting across and into the box and Newlands came close with a shot just inside the box but it just went wide but 5 mins later Adam Wilson made it 2-1 with a fine taken goal again, he really is playing his best football to date at the moment. as the game went on Midleton looked comfortable and at this stage 10 mins to go Andrew Nestor who had a great game his best in a while was subbed and replaced with Kevin Higgins. Everton never gave up and there reward came with 5 mins to go when again sloppy defending at the back left two Everton players on there own and they took full advatage and made it 2-2.

The score stayed that way to the end there where some good players out there to day for Midleton Harry Wall had a good game as did Mike kelly in the Midfield also Andrew Nestor played a blinder and as said before Adam Wilson is on fire but for this match the man of the match goes to Ciaran Newlands for his all round play he never stopped all day another player who is just getting better every week

National Cup away to Lakewood on 26th November
Lakewood 1 Midleton 3

Midleton went to Lakewood looking for revenge, at this stage in the competition last year Midleton where beating by there opponents and went back to Midleton feeling let down by some bad refereeing disitions that where made on the day.
As the game got underway Midleton looked a bit nervous and that showed as Midleton went down 1-0 after 10 mins, but after that Midleton started to take control of the match they played with five at the back and for spells that invited Lakewood to come forward a bit more and that opened up the Lakewood Midfield and defence and Midleton started to take advantage of this where Sean O'Leary had full control in the midle of the park and this is how the first goal came around. Midleton won the ball in the middle of the park and push it up to Adam Wilson who makes a great run towards goals and smashes it into the back of the net and its 1-1 this gave Midleton more confidence they where great to watch but Lakewood had there chances to but only for Conor O'Farrell who pulled of three or four top class saves he had a massive game to day and just seems to be getting better all the time as did the whole of the back line.

At half time Midleton took off John O'Dwyer who played his first game for the magpies and replace him with Eoin Mitchell who had a solid game at the back this is when Midleton really started to trouble Lakewood Mike Kelly and O'Leary started to get balls moving out wide and Ciaran Newlands started to take advatage of the space he was getting on the right sending some lovelly crosses across the goals and 10 mins into the 2nd half Midleton get there second goal and again its Adam wilson who was up front on his own for the whole of the match another well taken goal and only 5 mins later Andrew Nestor could have made it three but it just went past the post they had a few chances like that Wilson had two chances as did Newlands and Kelly at this stage it was all Midleton as Lakewood where throwing every body forward for a equliser midleton where catching them on the break and just before the end Adam wilson was there again for a well deserved hatrick a great team performance from the lads every one was brilliant they fought for every ball.

For man of the match this is a hard one as I said they where all great and all played a part but Adam Wilson took his three goals superbly like a striker should and there was Sean O'Leary honestly he just never stops he never let the big Lakewood midfielder near the ball and there was Alan Horgan who I have not mentioned yet he played a roll in front of the front four he had a great game to as did Conor O'Farrell who made saves that kept us in the game and Mathew Lamb never put a foot wrong all through the game so these players share it on the day just in fron of the other lads a well deserved victory and looking forward to the next round.

League away to Douglas Hall on Saturday 19th November
Douglas Hall 1 Midleton 1
Being one of the few games to go ahead on Saturday morning due to the dreadful weather this turn out to be a very entertaining game for anybody who botherd to turn up to watch it.
Midleton started of this game with great energy and right from the start they had a chance to go a head when Michael Kelly put through a ball to Adam Wilson with only the keeper to beat he struck it well but the Douglas Hall keeper Pat McSweeny made a great save and he kept that performance up right through the game all through the first half it was all Midleton the players definetly stepped it up for this match the back four where never under pressure, and anytime Douglas Hall did get forward Mathew Lamb and Cormac higgins who played a blinder had it well under controll the centre midfield Sean O'Leary and Kelly commanded there area with style but still with all the creative play and chances they made its hard to believe the Midleton lads came off at half time without putting the ball in the back off the net.

The 2nd half got under way and the Midleton lads started off the way they finished the firt half attacking from all sides with Ciaran Newlands making some great run down the right and sending some lovely balls across the box as did Andrew Nestor on the left side and the forwards Wilson and Evan O'Meara linked up well with the midfield players.
It was all Midleton for the first 10 mins they must have had at least five good chance in that time only to be denied by the Douglas Hall keeper he was outstanding but Midleton kept the pressure on and from this they got a corner the ball came into the box there was a bit of a scramble and the ball falls to Higgins he takes a strike and the ball goes to goal they try to block it on the goal line but it just passes over the line and Midleton finally take a well deserved lead. But the celebrations where short lived 5 Mins later Douglas Hall get the eqaliser there wasn't much the defence or the keeper Conor O'Farrell could do as it was a great strike. Midleton made a change bring on Harry Wall for Evan O'Meara up front, Midleton kept the pressure on right to the end just mins to go and Wilson had a shot that was blocked it then came to Newlands he took a shot and again it was blocked but that was the way it went right through this game for Midleton loads of chances but just couldn't
get it into the back of the net which was alot down to some excellent goalkeeping from the Douglas Hall man.

A great team performance from midleton what we have been asking for all season but there luck just wasn't there on the day to take all three points. As said a great team display from all Alan Horgan and Cahill Gunning done what was ask of them to as did the keeper O'Farrell but for this one Cormac Higgin gets man of the match.

League at home to Fermoy on 12th November
Midleton 2  Fermoy
3
Midleton started off this game with having to make two changes just before kick off due to injurys, so for the the first 5 mins they where trying to get it together with Ryan Dunleavy going into the midfield a position he is not to familiar with but he settle in well and Cahill Gunning came in at the left back. It wasn't to long into the game when Midleton found the net they where awarded a corner and as the ball was crossed in a Fermoy defender knocked it back out, Midleton pick the ball up again and put it back into the box there was a bit of a scramble but the ball comes to Cormac Higgins who has his back to goal he turns his body and strikes the ball at the same time and into the back of the net it goes good goal and great sharpness from Higgins who is getting better every game he plays.
As the game went on you could see Fermoy coming into the game more and during the game Fermoy had a few corners and they where causing lots of problems for Midleton and it was from this they got the equaliser the ball comes in and it is headed out to the centre of the box and a unmarked Fermoy player is there to blast it into the net good goal but again Midleton are always told to have a man just at the edge of the box for that type of thing happening and he went wondering and leaves the man unmarked.

As the 2nd half got under way Midleton put Alan Horgan into the Centre midfield and brought Ryan Dunleavy back to right back Midleton started to spread the ball more Horgan was getting more ball out wide to Ciaran Newlands who made some fine runs down the line and was getting balls across the goal and it was from this link up play with the midfield that the Midleton 2nd goal came the ball breaks through the centre out to the left side and Adam Wilson picks it up he plays it onto Mike Kelly who puts it across the goals it comes to Newlands who takes a strike the shot is blocked and goes straight out to the middle of the field about 25 yards and Alan Horgan lets a flyer go high into the air and right into the top of the goals great goal. As the game went on Fermoy never gave up and they kept pressing for the equaliser and it wasn't long before it came again from a corner and then they got a third from a corner again.

Midleton gave away three points that where badley needed today and every goal that fermoy scored was from a mistake from defending that the players have worked on and been told about in training and in the dressing room before the match, and till the lads start listening and hold the position they are told to take during the match and while defending set pieces they are going to keep giving away easy goals apart from that the lads gave there all its just these small mistakes that holding them back, felt sorry for Wilson today who didn't get much ball up to him, Sean O'Leary had another powerfull game as did Horgan and Newlands who is getting sharper and bringing a tough side to his game but there is one man who stood out more than any one today regardless the result and that is Cahill Gunning he was absolutely superb a great game well done Cahill.

National Cup at home to Tramore Athletic on 5th November
Midleton 2  Tramore Athletic 1

As the sun set across Knockgriffin on a fine saturday morning the magpies welcomed Tramore Athletic to Midleton for the national cup. The match started off very slow as Midleton tried to find there feet, Tramore where the under dogs coming from a division below Midleton but at no time during the game did that show they match them all over the park and made it hard for the home side to play football.

Midleton had most of the ball but at the same time wasted most of it and it just seem to be one of those days till 17 mins gone the ball broke through to Evan O'Meara who took it towards the keeper and took his shot and into the corner it went 1-0 Midleton and a well taken goal. Midleton fought away hard with Sean O'Leary workin away in the midfield and Mike Kelly trying to get balls out wide and up to the forwards and at the back they seemed to be keeping Tramore at bay Mathew Lamb playing another solid game and Cormac Higgins working hard beside him, but all through the game midleton where very sloppy on the ball there passing there was no pace on the ball there clearing was all pannicky and lots of slicing and Tramore where getting lots of advantage from this and it wasn't long before Tramore made them pay Midleton played a ball across the centre of the pitch with no pace on the ball and no player to pick it up but only a Tramore player he make's quick advatage of the Midleton slip up put the ball through to there left wide player who runs on into the box with no Midleton player putting any pressure on him and he wacks it into the back of the net a well taken goal from a bad mistake in midfield and midleton backs caught out of position again 1-1. Midleton had a chance before half time Harry Wall was clear on goal he took his shot the ball was on target but the keeper made the save and 1-1 it stayed.

The 2nd half got under way and Midleton looked a bit sharper with Ciaran Newlands making some good runs down the right and getting some balls through and across goal and at the back Alan Horgan kept things very simple breaking up any balls comming down the right hand side but as midleton where bringing the game to Tramore they could not break there well organized defence and Tramore had there chances too only for some first class goalkeeping from Kieran O'Rielly the game stayed level. It looked like it was going to extra time untill 4 mins from time Mike Kelly picks the ball up in the midfield lays a first class ball through to Evan O'Meara who takes the ball up just out side the box goes at goal and bang into the back of the net another superd goal and what a ball from Kelly who was having a hard time today but when its working for him he's superb and his reading of the game is first class and 2-1 it stayed. every player worked there socks off today there no question about that O'Leary has some engine he never gave up once, Lamb played well at the back too as did Horgan Newlands had another solid game too, but theres no question who was man of the match Evan O'Meara he could have had a hatrick he was unlucky 5 mins before his 2nd. as was said before the great thing was that everybody gave there all but there where things that just didn't work to day with the whole team as a unit especially there confidence on the ball and there passing and there positonal play but they are all things that can be worked on the most important thing is they won today and are in the next round and it wasn't there best performance by a long way but if they are going to progress into the next round they have to step it up.

League away to Bandon on Saturday 29th October
Bandon 1 Midleton 2

Midleton where on the road early as they travelled to Bandon for a 10.30 kick off as as they arrived there the referee was inspecting the pitch to see if the match was playable.
The weather was shocking heavy rain falls and the pitch was bad enough but in fairness to the ref he ask both clubs there opinion and they where happy for the match to go a head as long as the weather didn't get any worst and espiecaly after Midleton had made the journey.

The game started of slow as the players got used to the ball and the conditions of the pitch but the Midleton lads seemed to be the one's who started to dominate the game first Mike Kelly and Cormac Higgins breaking it up in the midfield and bringing others into play, any breaks Bandon where making in the first half where looked after at the back making great clearances from Eoin Mitchell and Mathew Lamb who both looked so comfortable on the ball all through the match. As the game went on Midleton attacked more, there where some great moves coming up the side with Ciaran Newlands linking up well with Higgins and the two forwards Evan O'Meara and Adam Wilson as he sent some lovely balls across goal. But the first goal came from a corner M.Lamb sent agreat ball across goal and as the away side attacked the ball it came to Andrew Nestor who made contact with his head and into the net and the away side are 0-1 up after 25 mins. Straight from the start Midleton keep the pressure up and they came close again when Newlands crossed a ball across the goal and it fell to kelly but it didn't connect right and just went wide.

As the 2nd half got under way Midleton made a change bringing on Harry Wall For Evan O'Meara up front for some fresh legs as ground was heavy and taking its toll on the players as Wall settle in Midleton found there selfs defending the first 5 mins but the back four where solid Ryan Dunleavy fought hard on the right side as did Alan Horgan on the left side and the keeper Conner O'Farrell had another solid game comanding his box and getting more confident each game. But 7 mins into the game Midleton broke from there own box M.Lamb passed a lovely ball through the middle of the park A.Wilson picks it up and makes the break towards goal only the keeper to beat he try's to lob it over the keeper but he gets a slight touch and the ball dribbles towards goal and Wilson never gives up and chases on the ball to blast it into the back of the net a good goal and Wilson seems to be getting the form back that he had last season. 15mins later Midleton let Bandon back into the game with a ball that had scrambled into the box Midleton failed to clear it and it went over the line. Midleton where still making chances and chasing the 3rd goal but for the last 5 mins they defended well as a unit there where some tired legs out there near the end Newlands done a tremedous job tracking back all day and Kelly and Higgins worked there socks off helping out the defence when needed as did Nestor out on the left, H.Wall worked hard and linked up well with Wilson up front in the 2nd half. But the two centre backs played a great game and Eoin Mitchell just scrapes in with man of the match for his effort all through the game a great team performance they really are starting to get there form back and if they can keep this going and play to there potental each week they can be contenders for this league.

League away to Mayfield United on Saturday 22nd October
Mayfield United 1 Midleton 2

Midleton headed off to take on top of the table Mayfield on what can only be described as a horrendous day of non stop rain. Both teams started off well with Midleton having a slight advantage playing with the slope on the field and as the wind was coming in from the side off the field that was not really a advantage to any side, but it was Midleton who had most of the first half with most of the the ball being played in the middle of the park.

There wasn't many chances as both teams fought hard for the ball in the middle of the park but Midleton had a chance 12 mins into the game when the ball broke out to Ciaran Newlands outside the box he layed it off to Sean O'Leary but as O'Leary went to take his shot he was closed down and then 5 mins later Midleton break again this time Mike Kelly wins the ball in the midfield he sees the gap and lays the ball through the gap between Mayfield's two centre backs and Adam Wilson breaks away with only the keeper to beat as he comes towards the keeper he picks his spot into the top corner and Midleton where 0-1 up and a great finish. As the game went on the rain got worst and there was a time when you could hardly see in front of you with the rain battering down and you are wondering if the ref is going to allow the game to carry on, but he did and Midleton kept at it with the defence having a solid game Mathew lamb and Cormac Higgins kept things tidy at the back giving Mayfield very little chances and Ryan Dunleavy play well at the back giving very little away, Eoin Mitchell was taken off 5 mins before half time carrying a injury and replaced with Evan O'Meara. As the game was coming near to halftime 30 mins to be exact Midleton got position of the ball in the midfield this time it was O'Leary he broke away kicked the ball up over the defence and Wilson chased onto it again very simalar to the first move with only the keeper to beat he blast it into the back of the net and its 0-2 Midleton.

Midleton knew that Mayfield where going to have alot more ball in this half as it was there turn with the advantage but Midleton fought hard and closed down Mayfeild as they pushed forward Midleton goalkeeper Conner O'Farrel played a stormer he looked confident with any ball that came near him but half way through the 2nd half Mayfield got the goal they where pressing for. But after that Midleton dug in and fought for every ball made there breaks when they had to but every player played a part in defending the last 15mins. Cahill Gunning relaced Dunleavy for the last 10 mins and has the players waited for the refs whisle to blow u could see every won had given there all Kelly never stoped all day Higgins and lamb had great games Nestor on the left worked away out wide Newlands worked his sock off as he was invlolved in most of the game but Sean O'Leary was outstanding. He marked his man out of the game but for this game there can only be one man of the match and that has to go to Adam Wilson for his two goals he did not have much do do as he played up front for most of the game on his own but when called apon he done what was asked of him and when his chances came he took them and took them first class

League at home to Strand United on 8th October
Midleton 0  Strand United
1
Another tough game for midleton at home to Strand Utd. It took a while for both teams to settle down in this game but as the game went on Midleton where the team that looked like scoring and the only team who where crateing any chances.
Mike Kelly got the ball inside the box and straight at goal he took his shot but it went straight over the bar another day and that would have burst the net. Then 5 mins later Midleton break, again this time down the left the ball come across the goal thers a bit of a scramble and the ball comes to Ciaran Newlands at the back post he does all the hard work gets the ball under control there is a defender in front he side steps him skillfully and only the keeper to beat he hits it with his left foot and just puts it past the post Midleton should have been two up at this stage. Strand at this point where out of the game they hadn 't had one chance at goal yet, then not long before half time Midleton break again with another great chance this time the ball breaks to top goal scorer Adam Wilson through the middle of the park he makes the break with only the keeper to beat surely this time he comes close to the keeper and just before the keeper comes to make contact he takes his shot and over the bar it goes another chance gone and Wilson who has scored a lot of his goals from that exact position in the past and will probally score another ten this season from that area could not believe his miss. But that was Midleton all through the first half all the ball crateing lots of chances but just couldn't finish them.

As the 2nd half got under way Strand came into the game a bit more especially in the middle of the park and Midleton seem to fall out of it and it was not long before Strand made Midleton pay for it The ball breaks out at the edge of the box and a Strand player takes a shot straight at goal and straight at the keeper Kieran O'Rielly he puts his hands up makes contact with the ball but the ball just brushes past his hands and Strand take the lead a bad error from the Midleton keeper and it stayed that way for the remainder of the game. Another wake up call for the Midleton boys who should have had this game won and finished in the first half and they just never came out in the 2nd half.

League at home to Ringmahon Rangers on 1st October
Midleton 4  Ringmahon Rangers
3
Midleton got off to a flying start, just 3mins into the game Midleton made a Break Down the left side of the pitch Adam Wilson gets the ball just outside the box and lays it back to Mike Kelly who strikes it first time from 25 yards and into the top corner to put the home side one up. As the game went on Midleton pushed  forward commanding the midfield with Kelly and Higgins winning most of the ball and Ciaran Newlands making runs down the right  and putting some good balls into the box and at the other side Andrew Nestor worked hard chasing down the ball putting the away side under pressure. But as the game went on Midleton fell a sleep at the back and let Ringmahon back into the game with a soft goal. Midleton broke forward just before halftime and got a corner Mathew lamb Crossed in a great ball and Cormac Higgins was there to head it into the back of the net and 26 mins gone and Midleton are 2-1 up.

As the 2nd half got under way Midleton came out fighting and 10 min into the game Kelly gets another cracker the ball breaks 30 yards out in the centre and sees that the keeper is of his line he runs at it and strikes it high and lobs it  right over the keeper into the back of the net 3-1 to Midleton . You would think it is all over at that stage but 3 mins later Ringmahon boot the ball high into the Midleton box and keeper Conner O\'Farrell comes out to meet it but he miss judges the bounce and goes over his head and into the net and it\'s 3-2. Then  5 mins later Midleton are back in control a ball is put through the centre and Adam Wison runs on to it with just the keeper to beat and takes his chance well and it\'s 4-2 But Ringmahon never gave up and 5 mins from the end they got a third again bad defending and Midleton had to hold on to the very end.
Midleton fell asleep at the back today and they can count them selfs lucky to take all 3 points , they are there own worst enemy at times as they had this game twice but twice they let Ringmahon back in to the game.

But at the end of the day they got the. 3 points and that is what its all about today Wilson had agood game he worked hard chasing balls down As did Mike Kelly shivers the man of the match for his overall all play and two great goals.

National Cup at home to Corinthians Boys A on 24th September
Midleton 3  Corinthians Boys A 2

Midleton got of to a great start only 4 mins into the game they took the lead Adam Wilson pulls the ball back outside the box to Mike Kelly who chipped it into the top corner a great goal. Midleton really never took there foot off the peddle from that goal they where solid all over the pitch and I think Corinthians where a bit taken back the way Midleton set out there stall from the start, the two centre backs Mathew lamb and Owen Mitchell Where solid out and Alan Horgan who played just in front off the centre backs stopped Corinthians breaking into the box. Midleton where on the break again when they where awarded a free kick just inside Corinthians half lamb stepped up to take it and saw Adam Wilson make the run and floated it into th box and Wilson who was playing up front on his own today made the run and the connection and slotted it into the net and 14 mins into the game and Midleton are 2-0 up.

But the celebrations where short lived as Corinthian got a free kick out side the penalty box, great free kick there was nothing the Midleton keeper Conner O'Farrell could do it was straight in to the top corner. But Midleton got straight back into it and where taking the game to the away side Evan O\'Meara  and Kelly where fighting hard in the middle of the park and Andrew Nestor linked up well on the left midfield and it was from this play the 3rd goal came , Nestor came down the left crossed over the ball into the box and Ciaran Newlands Picked it up got the ball under control and blasted it into the back of the net great goal and great first Half for Midleton.

As the 2nd half got under way Midleton came out with the same attitude as the first half they gave there all and as the game went on they tightened up more at the back and that probally let Corinthians into the game a bit more and 10 mins to go the Midleton lads gave a sloppy goal away just through pure tiredness and a bit panicking in there play But for the last ten minutes they gave everything to hold on to there win against a premier side team, it was a first class team performance from every one of them but it must be said Wilson done a great job on his own up front and Newlands never stopped  running all day his tracking back was first class and the centre backs where brillaint and Horgan who was put into a new roll made a massive contribution to the team but the Man of the match goes to Mathew lamb he just stood out all day this position that Mathew has been playing (centre back) has been questioned A few times but I truelly believe this is Mathews position for his progression in the future of his football career he just reads the game so well from there

League away to Blarney United on Saturday 17th September
Blarney United 0 Midleton 0

Another tough game for Midleton as they travelled to Blarney. The last time the two met it ended 0-0 and this game turned out the exact same score, but the last time they met it was even all through the game and the score was justified. Not this time as Midleton should have walked away with all three points. All through the first have it was Midleton doing all the attacking and Adam Wilson and Evan O’Meara had a couple of chances to put Midleton into the lead but the just didn’t come off and it was like that for Midleton all through the 1st half.

The 2nd half was a bit more even as Midleton where playing against the wind. There where two chances for Midleton in the 2nd half with one being from O’Meara who was straight on goal. He took his strike but it just went wide. Over all Midleton’s play was very good and if they can just take some of these chances and make them into goals they will have no one to fear this season. A good team performance and a very hard decision to name a man of the match because they all worked very hard and for that reason they all get man of the match.

League at home to Everton on Saturday 10th September
Midleton 4 Everton 1

Midleton went into this game knowing that they needed to come out of this with three points after losing there last two games and that is exactly what they did. Right from the start they had control of the game they commanded the midfield with Sean O’Leary and Mike Kelly and you had Andrew Nestor out on the left side making some great runs down the line sending in some fine crosses for the forwards to run onto. It wasn’t long before Midleton had there first chance with a free kick out side the box. Nestor took the free kick and a good strike it was it, walloped of the crossbar unlucky, but it wasn’t that long before Midleton got there first goal. It was 13 mins into the game, a ball that broke from the midfield out to left side the cross comes in and Adam Wilson was there to put it into the back of the net. Today Wilson looked a lot sharper all through the game and that can only be good news for Midleton. As the game went on it was really all Midleton in the first half, Everton didn’t really threat Midleton at all and that was down to the defence. They had a fantastic first half, very solid at the back Mathew Lamb in particular.

As the second half got under way, Midleton where playing against the wind so they really had to keep tight at the back as they could not afford to let Everton back into this game but saying that it was still Midleton who where taking the game to Everton. There was moments when Midleton where going forward theie passing movement was first class. O’Leary put some lovely balls out the right to Ciaran Newlands who was sending them through to Evan O’Meara or Wilson but still they couldn’t get that 2nd goal. That was until 9 mins into the 2nd half, O’Leary charges forward from the midfield puts the ball through to Wilson in the box who then passes it to O’Meara and all he had to do was stick it into the back of the net,  2-0 Midleton. The celebrations didn’t last long a couple of minutes later Everton pulled one back to make it 2-1 as the Midleton defence for the first time
in this match got caught out, but Midleton got back into it straight away and 5 mins later Midleton are awarded a penalty. Lamb steps up to take it and sends it low into the keepers right side 3-1 Midleton. Midleton had still a lot of work to do yet as they where playing against the wind and Everton were not giving up but every one of the lads at the back gave there all Eoin Mitchell worked his socks off and so did Cormac Higgins and Alan Horgan and Newlands was running all day tracking back every time, Midleton pushed forward at every opportunity looking for that 4th goal to put the game to bed and 5 mins from the end there work paid off with Nestor putting his name to the score sheet, being at the right place at the right time 4-1 Midleton. Midleton deserved there first win of the season and the players gave their all. Adam Wilson looked good today and Andrew Nestor played well as did Sean O’Leary and Mike Kelly and the whole team as a unit where fantastic but man of the match goes to Mathew Lamb who never stopped and was solid all through the game.

League away to Temple Utd on Saturday 3rd September
Temple Utd 3 Midleton 1
Midleton had another tough day against a strong Temple side. They started of well and had most of the ball in the first 10 mins, at that stage it looked like Midleton could come away with something from this game.

They had a couple of breaks, one with Andrew Nestor breaking down the left hand side, right down to the by-line and crossed it in for Ciaran Newlands who was running in at the back post. He slid into it and it just went wide, hitting the side netting but not long after that Temple came forward. There number 6 who was a really big lad and heads above all the Midleton boys and had football to go with it was by far the man of the match and he was without doubt the difference between the two teams. He got the ball just out side the box he took it to the side of one player and he saw a gap and took the shot and 12mins gone and Temple where one up. Midleton where still in the game they where plugging away with the midfield lads trying to get balls through the middle up to the Evan O’Meara and Adam Wilson but this wasn’t working. As the boys at the back for Temple had this worked out and they weren’t small lads either and where well able to win most of the balls coming through. As the game went on Temple where starting to win control in the middle of the park and 22 mins in to the game they break forward out to the right side Midleton fail to clear the ball and it breaks to there number six again he beats two or three Midleton players right into the penalty area and takes a shot and its 2-0 to Temple bad defending again from Midleton and to many players ball watching.

As the 2nd half got under way Midleton made a few changes. They brought on Alan Horgan for Cahill Gunning and Ryan Dunleavy and moved Eion Mitchell up front from defence and took off O’Meara just to try and mix it a bit with there defence with Mitchell being the biggest lad in the team and put Mathew Lamb back to centre defence to tighten up at the back and Sean O’Leary into the middle. The game had only gone 1min and Midleton where putting Temple under pressure with Mitchell winning a lot of ball in the air and then 5 mins into
the game, the ball that Midleton had been looking for all day breaks through the defence and no better man to run onto it than Wilson. He connects with it off the ground and into the back of the net 2-1 and Wilson last season's top scorer gets his first goal of the season, this should have been the changing point for Midleton. They had maybe two chances after this but to no avail Temple went on to score a 3rd and really the last 15 mins was all Temple who where putting on the pressure and the Midleton goalkeeper Conner O’Farrell had a really busy 2nd half.

Midleton where beat today by a stronger team there is no doubt about it, but we still lost goals by mistakes that we have been talking about before the match and working on at training. Mistakes that are easy to rectify and as soon as the players can start taking these points into the game with them the better because as I said earlier there was one difference today and that was there number six. In the 2nd half there was time when we stop him when the lads done what was ask of them but there is still moments when they don’t keep there concentration and that is when the mistake happen and the chances are not taken if they can get that together we have a chance in this league. The lads never gave up at any point and they have the football but sometimes
we are looking for that bit of luck that goes with it. Man of the match today for Midleton was Cormac Higgins he fought for every ball and it must be said the referee had a outstanding game something we don’t see to often at this standard.

League at home to Douglas Hall on Sunady 27th August
Midleton 0 Douglas Hall 4

Midleton kicked off there new season in the 1st division and learned a valuable lesson in football that when you go up a division.

The standard is a lot better and when you make a mistake nine times out of ten you will pay for it and that is what happened to Midleton today. The score doesn’t really tell how this match went because it was Midleton who took the game to Douglas Hall all through the first half with Mathew Lamb and Mike Kelly commanding the midfield and you had Ciaran Newlands making some great runs down the right and getting great crosses into the box.

You also had Adam Wilson and Evan O’Meara making runs up front and getting a few shots at goal but nothing
was getting past the Douglas Hall keeper except one but it hit the crossbar and down on to the line and bounce out and that’s how it went for Midleton all through the first half, but Douglas Hall were a different story there wasn’t much attacks coming from them in the first half but when they did they scored and the first was a shot outside the box that caught the Midleton keeper of his line and the second came from a corner and the Midleton defence was all over the place and before you know it Douglas Hall where two nil up.

As the 2nd half got under way things never got any better for Midleton they kept attacking Andrew Nestor breaking down the left side and linking up with Wilson in the box but nothing was falling right for them, as the second half went on Douglas hall got more confident in their play and where starting to attack more, the ball goes for a corner to Douglas Hall and again the Midleton defence are caught ball watching as the ball is headed into the back of the net. Then 10 minutes later Douglas strike again with the help of sloppy defending from Midleton and that is how it stayed till the whistle went.

A really bad day for the Midleton lads but there where some good play out there from some of the lads Eion Mitchell especially who had a great game but overall Douglas Hall deserved there three points because they took there chances when they came along and that can’t be said for Midleton and hopefully if anything good comes out of this game is that Midleton realise that when you make mistakes you will pay but more importantly when other teams make mistakes you must take those chances and make them pay.

Local Cup at home to Passage on Sunday 29th January
Midleton 0 Passage 5

This looks like Midelton took a good beating but for most of the game gave as good as they got and the score line is somewhat flattering to their higher division opposition.
The difference was 15 minute spell at the end of the first half when Passage were brilliantly clinical in their finishing, creating five chances and finishing them all off skilfully. It would be hard to criticise the defence where players like Conor Daly toiled manfully, but Midleton seldom face teams with the pace, strength and movement of Passage.

In midfield for Midleton, Michael Curtin was excellent, winning tackles and using the ball well. Dylan Finn-Hannon and Daire Daly worked hard to compete for the ball and start attacks. Up front Alex Marij and Luke Smith foraged excellently and made a couple of good chances but were hampered by their fellow striker Chigozie Iganabousi being taken off ill. Shane Veillard replaced him with good effect in his come-back game. In the second half Midleton steadied the ship and again created some chances. Leon Cahill came on and had a super game in defence and the whole team can be proud of their efforts. There were no further goals and apart from that crazy 15 minutes, Midleton gave their loftier opposition a hard game.

League home to Mayfield United on Tuesday 17th January
Midleton 1 Mayfield United 0

Midleton came out of a floodlight evening game a win with a determined, hard-working performance, surviving great pressure in the second half of a well-balanced game.  In the first half Midleton had the best of a hard fought match with Luke Smith leading the line with fine support from Alex Marij in attack and Chigozie Iganabousi in midfield.  Luke produced the best attempt early on with an acrobatic attempt from an Alex Marij cross.   Mayfield were also attacking when possible but Daire Daly, Ryan Higgins and Dylan Finn-Hannon were working hard and limiting options in midfield.  Alex Marij opened the scoring with a cool penalty after Luke Smith forced a handball with a driving run down the left and it was good reward for a fine first half performance.  The Midleton defence were well marshalled by Colin Edgebe and Adam Morris and the full backs, David O’Sullivan and Killian Leahy gave excellent defensive cover.  Aaron Harte in goal had a couple of close calls when balls scuttled past the post but was otherwise confident and untroubled.

The second half was largely one-way traffic as Mayfield tried to force an equaliser winning several corners and holding the bulk of possession.  Andrew Ryan, the replacement keeper, closed down a couple of attempts and despite the pressure, had few direct shots on target to save.  The defence was magnificent.  Craig Ryan replaced a tiring Killian Leahy and cleared a number of balls up to the front line in an excellent second half performance.  Leo Nicola, Leon Cahill came on in midfield and worked hard in front of the back four.  Alex Marij was largely isolated up front but was the ideal lone striker even hitting the post in a breakaway) as Captain Luke Smith went into midfield to marshal his troops.    However, the back four fought like demons for every ball and Adam Morris and Colin Edgebe through themselves into every challenge with Adam saving a couple of certain goals.  Dylan Finn-Hannon was a powerhouse in midfield and had his best ever game and could have scored a second late on before being foiled by the keeper and the post.  However, Adam Morris sneaked man of the match with a game saving performance.  This was the performance of the year and all the players deserve credit for the way they played and their attitude.

League away to Evergreen on Saturday 17th December
Evergreen 4 Midleton A 4

This was one of those typically bizarre Christmas games. Midleton began slowly and for the first 15 minutes could not defend the simplest ball. The gave away a poor first goal but a Luke Smith poached goal should have calmed nerves but more comic book defending led to a further two Evergreen goals. Luke Smith then scored two great goals from passes from Adam Morris and Alex Marij. Then, Chigozie Iganabousi made a lightening break down the left and squared to Alex Marij who hit an unstoppable shot to allow Midleton to lead 4 - 3 at half time.

The referee who demonstrated a poor understanding of the offside law had a poor second half making some strange decisions. Midleton were unlucky twice, Luke being pulled up twice when through on goal from passes by Adam Morris. The referee gave Midleton nothing, ignoring two challenges on Alex that should have been penalized but giving free kicks against Midleton for the slightest touches. After signaling 5 minutes left the referee played a further 10 minutes before Evergreen scored a goal that was blatantly offside and a draw had been engineered. Luke Smith was back to form and Adam Morris was magnificent in defence saving his team several times and also playing some excellent balls. Daire Daly and Ryan Higgins had good games on the wings and Alex and Michael Curtin were in good form. However, the team must realize that slow starts and uncertainty at the back leads to poor results.

League home to Mallow A on Sunday 4th December
Midleton A 1 Mallow A 3

Despite the result this was the best performance of the season. Midleton worked hard and the whole team played well. The defence were strong with Adam Morris, Colin Edgebe and Dylan Finn-Hannon having great games and special praise to Dylan who stood out at fullback. The midfield worked tirelessly and Michael Curtin ran and tackled himself into the ground. Luke Smith and Chigozie Iganabousi were a constant threat. Mallow exerted pressure in the early stages of the game before Midleton came into the game and the attack carved out a couple of chances.

The game was 0 - 0 at half time and Midleton looked the stronger team having a number of chances and Alex Marij was finding himself in space time after time and offering real threat. He scored a super goal with a lob into the top corner and Midleton were very much the better team. Then came the turning point. Alex skipped past a couple of defenders despite attempts to foul him and was through on goal only to have the referee whistle for a foul on him. The referee had a poor game in truth and was about to compound one mistake with another. Mallow scored a scrappy equalizer and attacked again. Having waved play on for a dubious foul on the edge of the Midleton area, calls from the Mallow players and officials sponsored a strange reversal and the Mallow player fired in from the kick. Midleton conceded a final goal as the attacked late on. This wasn't what they deserved but the performance should give them some confidence.

League away to Douglas Hall A on Sunday 30th October
Douglas Hall A 3 Midleton A 4

This was nothing if not an exciting game. Midleton began well and soon led through an individual goal from Chigozie Iganabousi who surged down the right and slotted under the goalkeeper at the near post. However, Douglas came back into the game and equalized from a fine free kick from outside the box. Chigozie then ran through from half way and slotted home and although the ref gave the goal he reversed his decision after protests and pulled back play for a handball decision. The Midleton defence were struggling under Douglas pressure and conceded a second before halftime.

Both Douglas and Midleton had chances but Midleton began to look better when Adam Morris moved from midfield to centre-back and looked the more likely scorers.  However, Douglas scored on the break to make it 3 - 1 and the game looked over. However, Midleton showed great character and stepped up a gear with the midfield getting well on top of their opponents. Suddenly Chigozie scored after another fine run and Midleton were rampant.  From a corner, the ball was cleared by the goalkeeper to the edge of the box where David O'Sullivan hit a left foot volley into the top corner. It was a class goal from a player who is getting better and better every week. Colin Edgebe was now finding good defensive support and pressing into midfield and he found the pass that allowed Chogozie to complete his hattrick. There was still time to see Douglas break away and bear towards goal. However, an excellent and very brave save by Andrew Ryan saw the game safetly finished for a Midleton victory. Chigozie was the star of the show and played his best game for Midleton but the whole team did well and showed the courage needed to change games.

League away to Leeds A on Saturday 22nd October
Leeds A 2 Midleton A 1

Midleton knew this was going to be a difficult match when kick-off was delayed because some of the Leeds players had not finished shaving.  Midleton are a small team and some of the opposition were taller than their coaches.  Despite this the team gave it's all.  The played up hill and against a strong wind in the first half and fell behind to a dubious hand ball against Leon Cahill.  Leeds then hit a fine shot to go 2 - 0 up.  Midleton kept their heads up and at times played some good football and slowly got a foothold in the game.  Man of the match David O'Sullivan was playing well in defence and attack and hit a number of dangerous balls in.

In the second half Midleton exerted more pressure and were unlucky not to score on one or two occasions.  Alex Marij never gave up and just missed from a narrow angle.  Luke Smith moved from Midfield to attack with immediate results and was fouled in the box.  It was one of the first decisions the referee gave Midleton in what was a very physical game.  Alex Marij dispatched the spot kick but it was too little too late.  This was a good performance against a much more "mature" team and all the players should be proud of their days work.

League away to Corkbeg on Saturday 8th October
Corkbeg 4  Midleton A 1

Midleton made the short trip to Whitegate for a game against Corkbeg but came up short against a good team.
Midleton lined out with 2 players, Aaron Harte Esuto and Leo Nicola, making their debuts. However right from the start of the match Midleton were under pressure with the early midfield exchanges being dominated by Corkbeg.
Eventually the pressure told and Corkbeg scored an early goal which was quickly followed by another. Losing 2-0 could have resulted in the heads going down but the team rallied well. Midfield began getting to grip with their oponnents and, with Michael Curtin in particular putting in some good challenges, we began to exert some pressure of our own.
After a good spell the ball fell to Luke Smith and he expertly dispatched it to the net leaving the half-time score 1-2.

Despite making a couple of substitutions the second-half started in the same manner as the first and
2 further goals for Corkbeg left the final score 1-4.
Good performances came from Colin Edgebe at centre-back, Alex Marij in midfield and Daire Daly playing in an unfamiliar role of centre-forward. However special mention must go to our goalkeeper, Andrew Ryan, who showed his bravery when diving at the feet of the Corkbeg forwards on a couple of occasions.

National Cup at home to Mallow on 24th Sptemeber
Midleton 0 Mallow Utd 3

A gallant Midleton team gave a fine performance before being beaten, somewhat unluckily, by 3 goals.
Midleton opened brightly and a spell of pressure lead to a handball in the box and a penalty was awarded.
Team captain, Luke Smith, took responsibility and stepped up to take the kick. However a good save from the Mallow keeper ensured that the game remained scoreless. The game was then taken to Midleton by the Mallow midfield and they were awarded a free-kick on the corner of the penalty area. A dangerous ball was played across the goalmouth and, although it eluded the oncoming forwards, the ball ended up in the bottom corner of the net.

Midleton responded well to this setback with good work by Colin Edgebe and David O\'Sullivan, in particular, in the back line repelling everything Mallow could throw at them. Midfield began to get a bit of an edge with Michael Curtin and Daire Daly challenging for every ball. The half ended with Midleton on the attack and looking good.

A couple of changes were made at half-time with Chigozie Iganabousi and Craig Ryan replacing Dylan Finn-Hannon and Killian Leahy who had both given their all in the first 30 minutes. The game remained finely balanced until a through ball found a Mallow attacker in space and he gave Andrew Ryan no chance from close range to make it 0-2.

Once again Midleton refused to lie down and a fine finish from Ryan Higgins looked to have brought Midleton back in to the match. However, the referee had other ideas, and the goal was controversially ruled out for offside. Midleton continued to chase the game and Chigozie was unlucky with a long-range shot that seemed to be creeping in but ended up going just wide.

Another controversial moment occurred just before the full-time whistle when a Mallow forward tucked the ball into the net from what looked like an offside position, but the goal was allowed to stand. This was a good performance by Midleton who continue to show improvement but on this occassion luck deserted them.

League home to Richmond on Saturday 10th Sept 2011
Midleton A  2  Richmond 0

On paper this is a Midleton team with the players to succeed at this level; strikers with an eye for goal, classy and hardworking midfielders and some robust defenders.
In this game they proved far too strong for Richmond although a strong wind spoiled the game for the spectators. Midleton won with two goals either side of the break. The first from a great run and finish down the left by Chigozie Iganabousi and the second a clinical finish from the right hand side of the goal by Daire Daly (eventually returned from holiday!).  Adam Morris captained the game and led a strong defensive effort that saw Richmond have their first good chance in the last minute. Andrew Ryan had a comfortable game and made a couple of good saves as Midleton tired in the second half. There was excellent midfield play at time from Alex Marij, Michael Curtin, Dylan Finn-Hannon and Chigozie who combined well when the wind allowed. Ryan Higgins and Daire Daly joined them in the second half and both provided a threat and good defensive cover. The strike force worked hard all day but the wind made life difficult for them with the ball almost impossible to read.
Shane Veillard proved the pick of these and his speed coupled to an appetite to win the ball was a constant threat. A good days work and something to build on.

League away to Douglas Hall on Sunday 28th August
Douglas Hall 0  Midleton A 2

REF TAKEN TO A&E IN STRANGE END TO GAME
A good start to the season by Midleton; Midleton attacked from the start and made lots of chances before Alex Marij scored his ‘normal majestic goal with a shot from the left hand side of the goal that was beyond the reach of the keeper. Chance after chance was made and Luke Smith, Shane Veillard and Tom Scanlon all missed good chances in the first half. Their wastefulness apart, the trio of strikers ran the Douglas back four ragged and were prompted by good balls from the mid-field and defence.

Michael Curtin was his excellent self and Alex Marij all elegance and skill. Dylan Finn-Hannon had a good game and contributed in defence and attack. Colin Edgebe, Adam Morris and David O’Sullivan were solid at the back but words of praise must go to Killian Leahy who gave his best performance in a Midleton shirt. Andrew Ryan had a great game in goal making two excellent saves and looks like he has played there for years. The pattern of the first half was repeated with Leon Cahill and Chigozie Iganabousi slotting in as substitutes on the right hand side of the team.

Tom Scanlon scored a fine second and Midleton looked like they could run away with it. However, shortly after, the referee suffered chest pains and had to be taken to hospital with the match abandoned. Midleton can only hope the result stands as a fine start to the season.

Under 13 2010/11 Division 3

League at home to Crosshaven on 18th May 2011
Midleton 4-1 Crosshaven
Conor Fitzgerald, Dylan Casey, Garan Manley, Jamie Warrington

Champions at last, although it was a nerve wracking game at times as Crosshaven made the game a real contest. We started well and had then pinned back for the first ten minutes, Conor Fitzgerald had the first chance but was denied by the keeper. After 10mins literally with their first attack of the game they scored, this did not deter us as we tried to work our way back into the game. On 20mins a quick move was finished well by Conor and two minutes later a great delivery by Kyle McCarthy was headed in at the far post by Dylan Casey to give us the lead, a few more chances come and went as the half time whistle blew.

The second half saw Crosshaven take the game to us but with normal service resumed in the back four, Joe Wyer had little to do, as we searched for the finishing goal to settle the nerves. This arrived in the 50min as after a great driving run Garan Manley was hauled to the ground for a free just outside the box, he picked himself up and smashed the ball to the bag of the net to become our 12 different player to score. Our wait for the 13th different player to score was only 3mins as after another surging run by Garan, Jamie Warrington was left with the easy task of finishing the move. Jubilant scenes greeted the final whistle as chants of Champions rang out from Knockgriffen. The management team of Martin Denny, Pat Murphy, Pat Fitzgerald and Leonard O'Driscoll could breath a sigh of relief as we move onto Division 2 for next season.

All in all a great way to finish the season CHAMPIONS, Man of the Match this week was the whole panel of 16 players who all made it on the the pitch today, 1. Joseph Wyer 2. Aaron Butler 3. David Murphy 4. Seanaidh Symth 5. Ryan Denny 6. Cormac Beausang 7. Killian Browne 8. Kyle McCarthy 9. Jack Enright 10. Conor Fitzgerald 11. Dylan Casey 12. Jamie Warrington 13. James Leahy 14. Russ Cummins 15. Ryan O'Reagan 16. Garan Manley.
Well done lads for a great season playing football the right way.

League at hone to Passage on 15th May 2011
Midleton 0-0 Passage

First v third where a victory would have seen us take the title with a game to spare, but we will have to wait to the final game of the season to finish the job. First half saw us play against the wind as both sides looked nervous due to the importance of the game, we had the first chance on 5mins when Conor Fitzgerald was one on one but the Passgae keeper pulled off a good save. Passage pressed and it took a good save from Joe Wyer from a free kick to keep the game scoreless, Conor then had another chance but just pulled his shot wide and then after another good move Kyle McCarthy had his shot blocked by the defender. Half time came with the game scoreless.

The second half saw neither side initially getting any tempo as the game was broken up by lots of free kicks and stoppages. We then started to apply pressure and won a succession of corners where we were unlucky not to break the deadlock, Dylan Casey having a shot blocked on the line. Passage looked dangerous on the break but the defence with Ryan Denny having a great game on the Passage danger man another clean sheet was kept keeping up our record of not conceding a league goal at home. Final score 0-0

A shame we could not complete the job today but fair dues to Passage who put in a determined display, at least we know a victory in our last game would still see us take the title. As for the game we put in a solid display typified by MOM this week Ryan Denny who had a great game at centre back. Well Done Ryan

League away to Innisvilla on 13th May 2011
Innishvilla 0-6 Midleton
Cormac Beausang 3, Conor Fitzgerald 3

Last away game of the season saw us travel to Innishvilla on Friday 13th but there was to be nothing strange as we romped to a comfortable victory. we opened the scoring after 45 seconds with a sweet finish by Cormac Beausang, this was doubled on 9mins with Conor Fitzgerald lobbing the keeper with another nice finish. Chances came and went for us until the 23rd min when Cormac added his second after a great driving run his finished to the bottom corner. The defence had little to do but Joe wyer pulled off one good save when it was needed.

The second half started with neither side creating much but with Kyle McCarthy starting to pull the strings in midfield we slowly got our game together again, Conor adding his second on 36mins and then completing his hat-trick on 40mins with a header after a great cross from Dylan Casey. Not to be outdone on 50mins another sweeping move was finished nicely by Cormac to complete his hat-trick. Innishvilla had one chance to get on the score sheet but again Joe Wyer was up to the task to keep another clean sheet.

All in all a good way to finish our travels on the road, and extend our lead at the top, with 2 games to go. Again a good team display
Conor continued his hot streak in front of goal with another hat-trick and good to see Cormac have his best game in weeks also scoring a hat-trick. Not difficult to call MOM this week as we will let the two hat-tricks lads share the accolades, well done Cormac and Conor.

1. Joseph Wyer 2. Aaron Butler 3. Russ Cummins 4. Seanaidh Symth 5. Ryan Denny 6. Cormac Beausang 7. Killian Browne 8. Kyle McCarthy 9. Jack Enright 10. Conor Fitzgerald 11. Jamie Warrington 12. Dylan Casey 13. David Murphy

League at home to Kinsale on 2nd May 2011
Midleton 3-0 Kinsale
Jack Enright, Conor Fitzgerald, Killian Browne.

Home to Kinsale as the games keep coming saw us put in a fine display with a good all round team performance. With both sides looking nervous at the start we got off to the perfect start on 4mins after a decisive pass by Kyle McCarthy was finished by Jack Enright for his tenth of the season. There was a great ebb to the rest of the 1st half as Kinsale took the game to us but with Seanaidh Symth and Ryan Denny in fine form at the heart of the defence, there were very few clear chances for Kinsale. As half time approached we knew we needed another goal and on 28mins a great ball by Aaron Butler was finished to the bottom corner by Conor Fitzgerald to leave the half time score 2nil.

The second half saw Kinsale with the winds at their backs as both sides tried to play the passing game, Kinsale started off the better but our defence stood firm. As the half progressed we worked ourselves back in the game with Killian Browne and Jamie Warrington having great games on the flanks, Conor was the 1st to hit the woodwork with a fizzing shot from 25 yards, this was soon followed by kyle who again was very unlucky with his strike which came back off the post. We were not to be denied a third as another flowing move was finished with a great strike by Killian which left the keeper with no chance. We were able to get all three subs on as the match finished 3nil.

A great effort which saw us overtake Kinsale in the league, with 3 games to go. This was a real team effort with a number of good displays, Jack and Conor continued their hot streak in front of goal, Jamie continued his recent fine form and it was great to see Kyle and Killian having they best displays in the past few weeks. At the back the twin towers of Ryan and Seanaidh were in imperious form. MOM this week was very difficult due to the level of performances but Jamie Warrington for his all action display and Seanaidh Symth for his defence work would share the accolades this week.

1. Joseph Wyer 2. Aaron Butler 3. David Murphy 4. Seanaidh Symth 5. Ryan Denny 6. Cormac Beausang 7. Killian Browne 8. Kyle McCarthy 9. Jack Enright 10. Conor Fitzgerald 11. Jamie Warrington 12. Dylan Casey 13. Ross Cummins 14. Ryan O'Reagan

League away to Buttevant on 29th April 2011
Buttevant 3-6 Midleton
Conor Fitzgerald 5 and Jack Enright

Away to Buttevant turned out to be the Conor Fitzgerald show and a valuable win. On a very small and narrow pitch flowing football was hard to come by in the 1st half but with Seanaidh Symth playing well at the heart of midfield we eventually got on top, Jack Enright with a fine strike on 18mins opened our account, this was followed by Conor's 1st goal on 25mins leaving the half time score 2nil.

The second half did not get off to a great start as from an attacking corner the Buttevant striker ran the length of the pitch to score, We replied with 2 goals in four minutes both from boot of Conor to complete his hat-trick. Just as we thought we would close out the game a replica of Buttevant's first goal occurred as from an attacking corner the same forward punished us again for poor defending. The goals were still coming as a fine move resulted in Conor scoring his fourth of the game to make it 5-2, still Buttevant were not finished as from a corner they scored with a minute to go. Conor was not finished though and another slick move saw him round the keeper to score his fifth of the game to see us ran out 6-3 winners.

All in all a good win, where we made life difficult at times with some poor defending, but on the positive we were very good going forward, Seanaidh had a very good 1st half and Jamie Warrington really picked up the pace in the second half but MOM for the second game running with a really terrific display and 5 goals to his name was Conor Fitzgerald. Also speedy recovery to James Leahy who will be out for a couple of weeks.

1. Joseph Wyer 2. Aaron Butler 3. Ross Cummins 4. Seanaidh Symth 5. Ryan Denny 6. Cormac Beausang 7. Jamie Warrington 8. Kyle McCarthy 9. Jack Enright 10. Conor Fitzgerald 11. Dylan Casey 12. Killian Browne 13. David Murphy 14. Ryan O'Reagan 15. Eolann Shanahan 16. Corey Mackessy.

League at home to Buttevant on Sunday 24th April
Midleton 4-0 Buttevant
Conor Fitzgerald 3, Jack Enright

Although not playing at our best we comfortably saw off the challenge of Buttevant despite missing a few players through injury and holidays. We started off well enough scoring after 4mins when Conor Fitzgerald continued his rich scoring vein with an excellent strike from the edge of the box. The lead was doubled when a low cross by Conor was finished on the line by Jack Enright on 18mins, the remainder of the half was a pretty low key affair as we struggled to get our passing game going.

The second half saw us create chance after chance with several players guilty of going for power rather than precision, as several shots were driven straight at their keeper. We were well on top now with Joe Wyer and the defence having little to do, and we eventually scored a third with a neat finish by Conor on 46mins and he completed a well earned hat-trick on 56mins with another tidy finish.
A funny game where despite not being at our very best we ran out 4-0 winners but the score line could have been easily more any other day if we had our shooting boots on. Not difficult to pick MOM this week as he was far and away our best player with a great all round display and a hat-trick to boot, Conor Fitzgerald would take the accolades this week.
1. Joseph Wyer 2. Aaron Butler 3. Ross Cummins 4. James Leahy 5. Ryan Denny 6. Cormac Beausang 7. Killian Browne 8. Kyle McCarthy 9. Conor Fitzgerald 10. Jack Enright 11. Dylan Casey 12. Jamie Warrington 13. Seanaidh Symth 14. Garan Manley 15. Barry O'Callaghan

Local Cup at Home to Leeds on 14th April 2011
Midleton 1-2 Leeds
Conor Fitzgerald

A cracking cup tie saw premier leaders Leeds leave Knockgriffen with a narrow 2-1 victory. The match started with us giving Leeds to much respect as they raced into a 2nil lead within 15 minutes, the first goal after 10 mins creep into the net whereas the second came from a bullet header from a corner. At this stage it looked ominous for us but as half time approached we began to find our feet.

The second half saw a much more even game with subs James Leahy and Jamie Warrington making an instant impact as they drove us forward. Kyle was working his socks off in midfield and the defence with Aaron Butler having a fantastic game standing firm we came much more into the game. The last 10 mins saw us launch attack after attack and we were eventually rewarded on 58 mins with a neat finish by Conor Fitzgerald. Unfortunately time was to run out on us leaving the final score 2-1 to Leeds.

To lose to the Premier Leaders by an odd goal was a fine effort, good luck to Leeds who are a fine footballing team but even in defeat you could see how pleased the lads were with their effort and performance. There were many good displays over the sixty minutes, Aaron had a storming game at right back ably assisted by Seanie and Ryan, Kyle turned in a fine display in the centre of midfield with Conor and Jack keeping the Leeds defence on their toes. Subs James and Jamie had great cameos in the second half but just shading MOM for his all round display was Aaron Butler.

1. Joseph Wyer 2. Aaron Butler 3. David Murphy 4. Cormac Beausang 5. Ryan Denny  6. Seanaidh Symth 7. Killian Browne 8. Kyle McCarthy 9. Conor Fitzgerald 10. Jack Enright 11. Dylan Casey 12. Ross Cummins 13. James Leahy 14. Jamie Warrington 15 Ryan O'Reagan

League away to Kinsale on 10th April 2011
Kinsale 2-3 Midleton

Top of the table clash in a sun drenched Kinsale and we ended their unbeaten league run with a well deserved victory. We started the game well and should have taken the lead after 10 mins when Conor was clean through but a good save by the keeper denied us. We were playing good football but against the ran of play a corner went straight through to give Kinsale the lead after 20 mins. A sign of a good team is how they respond and we were level within a minute, Jack Enright finishing well to the bottom corner leaving the half time score 1-1.

Second half saw as camped inside Kinsale's half for the 1st ten minutes as we used both flanks to test the Kinsale defence, another sweeping move culminated in a great cross by Conor being turned into his net by a Kinsale defender to give us the lead. Dylan Casey was having a storming match down the left flank as was Kyle McCarthy and when the keeper came out to clear Kyle returned his clearance with a great finish from 30 yards to increase our lead. Kinsale were not finished and with 2 minutes to go scored a second but we closed out the game to secure a vital 3 points.

A great win against the previously undefeated league leaders with an all round team display from 1 - 13, difficult to single out lads as they all worked extremely hard on a hot day, but for his untiring work up front Jack Enright would share the MOM award with Dylan Casey who had a great game on the left flank.
1. Joseph Wyer 2. Aaron Butler 3. David Murphy 4. Cormac Beausang 5. Ryan Denny  6. Seanaidh Symth 7. Killian Browne 8. Kyle McCarthy 9. Conor Fitzgerald 10. Jack Enright 11. Dylan Casey 12. Ross Cummins 13. James Leahy

Friendly v Avondale on 26th March 2011
Midleton 3-3 Avondale
Goal Scorers Conor Fitzgerald 2, Ryan O'Reagan 1

With our league game cancelled we were able to get a friendly against Avondale, with all the players getting a run out and an exciting game to boot it was an excellent workout. We started well and could have been a couple of goals up when after a bit of loose defending Avondale scored from a corner after 8mins. The game was being played at a great pace with both teams trying to play quick incisive football and after 18 mins a run and dribble was finished to the bottom corner by Conor Fitzgerald. Half time came with the sides locked at 1-1.

Second half saw both sides again playing good passing football and after a strong shot from Conor was parried by the keeper sub Ryan Reagan was in the right place to finish at the near post. Within 5 mins Avondale were level when a strong run by their number 10 ended with him finishing well to the bottom corner. Not to be outdone we take the lead within 30 seconds with a truly remarkable strike by Conor from 30 yards out with his left foot, a goal to grace any game. Unfortunately just as we looked like closing out the game Avondale poached an equaliser when we should have cleared the ball to finish the game as a draw.

In reflection shame to draw the game but was great to get a game played and thanks to Avondale for playing. For us Kyle worked very hard in midfield and it was great to see Seanaidh back after his injury but for scoring 2 on his birthday Conor would shade the MOM award this week.

Also congratulations to Kyle McCarthy and Conor Fitzgerald for being selected on the Cork Kennedy Cup Squad, well done and keep up the hard work.
1. Joseph Wyer 2. Ross Cummins 3. Aaron Butler 4. James Leahy 5. Cormac Beausang 6. Seanaidh Symth 7. Jamie Warrington 8. Kyle McCarthy  9. Conor Fitzgerald 10. Jack Enright 11. Dylan Casey
12. David Murphy 13. Ryan Denny 14. Killian Browne 15. Ryan O'Reagan

League away to Kilinardrsh Coachford on 12th March
Kilinardrsh Coachford 0 - 8 Midleton

Goal Scorers Killian Browne 3, Jack Enright 2, Conor Fitzgerald, James Leahy, David Murphy.
A real game of two halves as our first half performance was well below par. Fair due to Coachford who really battled hard in the first half where as we found it hard to string two passes together. From our one moment of composure Killian Browne struck with a great finish from 25 yards in the 25min to leave the half time score 1-0.

With a few words of encouragement the second half was a completely different story as we blitzed Coachford with 4 goals in the first ten minutes. Jack Enright on as a second half sub finished a great move on 32 mins and he quickly followed this with his second goal on 34 mins after another sweeping move. We were now in full control and after a melee in the box Killian added his second of the match on 36 mins, James leahy then added our fifth goal with a tap in on 40 mins. A powerful run by Ross Cummins into the box was then ended when he was pulled back resulting in a penalty which Killian dispatched for his hat-trick on 45 mins. The best was saved for the end with two great strikes, firstly David Murphy with his first of the season from just outside the box on 47mins and then Conor Fitzgerald with a terrific strike on 55mins to leave the final score 8-0. We could have had a few more with David hitting the crossbar and Kyle hitting crossbar and post during the game.

After a poor first half we rallied in the second half to produce a much better team display, hard luck on Coachford who kept going to the end. For us Jack Enright did really well when he come on scoring 2 goals and leading the line well, Kyle and Conor worked really hard in the second half, but just shading the MOM award with his hat-trick was Killian Browne.
1. Joseph Wyer 2. Aaron Butler  3. David Murphy 4. James Leahy 5. Cormac Beausang 6. Ryan Denny 7. Killian Browne 8.Kyle McCarthy 9.Conor Fitzgerald 10.Jamie Warrington 11. Dylan Casey 12.Ross Cummins 13. Jack Enright 14. Ryan O'Reagan

Local Cup away to Watergrasshill on 26th February 2011
Watergrasshill 1 - 2 Midleton
Goal Scorer Conor Fitzgerald 2

Last 32 of the Local cup away against the Hill, on a wet and windy morning on a very sticky pitch turned out to be a difficult assignment. We played against the elements in the 1st half and should have taken the lead after 5 mins when Conor was clear through but he struck his shot straight at the keeper. We had then had to defend for long periods of the half but with Joe Wyer in fine form we thought we would get to half time all square but on the stroke of half time the hill scored.

Second half saw us with the wind and after 5 mins of pressure Conor Fitzgerald finished a good move with a powerful shot to the corner. We then continued to apply the pressure and a deft pass by Kyle was slotted home by Conor for his second of the match. We a little more luck we could have added a third but we saw the game out with some good defending at the end to win 2-1.

We now move to the last 16 and await the Winners of the Leeds/Douglas Hall game. All round a good display where we had to battle hard against a very strong and skilful Hill team. For us Cormac Beausang covering for the injured Seanaidh put in a sound performance along side Ryan at the heart of the defence, we wish Seanie well with his recovery. Up front it was great to see Conor back to his best with a fine performance and 2 goals to boot, but just shading man of the match with his great handling and saves when we needed them was goalkeeper Joe Wyer, well done Joe.
1. Joseph Wyer 2.Ross Cummins 3. David Murphy 4. James Leahy 5. Cormac Beausang 6. Ryan Denny 7. Killian Browne 8.Kyle McCarthy 9.Conor Fitzgerald 10.Jamie Warrington 11. Dylan Casey 12. Aaron Butler  13. Jack Enright 14. Eolann Shanahan

League at Home to Everton 13th February 2011
Midleton 0-0 Everton
Two good teams and two mean defences meant there were very few chances on offer over the sixty minutes. In a first half where both teams tried to play football there were very few clean cut chances. Cormac Beausang and Kyle McCarthy worked very hard in midfield but both defences thwarted any half chances which come and went.

Second half was much the same and again there was little to talk about in terms of chances, Joseph Wyer, Aaron Butler, Ryan Denny, Seanaidh Smyth and David Murphy were in great form at the back as Everton pushed hard in the first part of the second half. We finished the half strong but the game finished goaless.

In reflection a draw was a fair result, Everton looked a much better team than when we played them earlier in the season and played very well. For us defensive we were very strong with all the back line playing well again.  Difficult to call man of the match this week as the whole team played well, perhaps a few of the lads, Cormac, Seanaidh, Ryan, could share the accolades.
1. Joseph Wyer 2. Aaron Butler 3. David Murphy 4. Cormac Beausang 5. Seanaidh Smyth 6. Ryan Denny 7. Killian Browne 8.Kyle McCarthy 9.Conor Fitzgerald 10.Jack Enright 11. Dylan Casey 12. Ross Cummins  13. James Leahy 14. Jamie Warrington, 15. Ryan O'Reagan Regards Martin Denny

Local Cup away to Macroom on29th January 2011
Macroom 2-4 Midleton
Scorers Kyle McCarthy 3, Jack Enright 1

It was a long time coming but after six weeks without a game we put in a great all round performance against a very good Macroom side. We started well with New Skipper Kyle McCarthy scoring after 6mins, we then doubled the lead after 19mins when Jack Enright was in the right position to finish off a good move. Dylan Casey was having a stormier down the left wing but just on the stroke of half time Macroom scored to leave the half time score 2-1.

We came out second half and again took the game to Macroom,Kyle scoring after 35mins with a sublime finish lobbing the keeper from 30 yards a great finish. Macroom then came roaring back at us but with Joseph Wyer in great form abley assisted by Ryan Denny and Seanaidh Smyth who both had great games at the heart of the defence we managed to weather the storm. With 2mins to go another flowing move saw Kyle complete his hat-trick although James Leahy was close to getting the final touch, Macroom were not finished and with nearly the last kick of the game scored again to leave the final score 4-2 to us.

After six weeks without a game, this was a terrfic display, New skipper Kyle with a great all round display and a hat-trick had a great game, as did Joe in goal whose handling on the ice pitch was excellent. All the back four played well with Seanaidh and Ryan again winning an amount of headers and tackles when the pressure was on. Very close for man of the match this week but Dylan Casey with his great performance and Kyle with his hat-trick will share the accolades

1. Joseph Wyer 2. Aaron Butler 3. David Murphy 4. Cormac Beausang 5. Seanaidh Smyth 6. Ryan Denny 7. Killian Browne 8.Kyle McCarthy 9.Conor Fitzgerald 10.Jack Enright 11. Dylan Casey 12. Ross Cummins  13. James Leahy 14. Jamie Warrington Regards Martin Denny

National Cup home to Carrigaline on 11th Dec 2010
Midleton 0-2 Carrigaline

Third round of the National Cup against Carrigaline from the Premier Division who went away from Knockgriffen with a narrow 2nil victory. We started slowly but soon worked our way into the game and dominated much of the first half without really testing the Carrigaline Keeper. Closest was Conor Fitzgerald who tested the keeper after 10 minutes. Both defences were on top of their game with the Midleton back four of Ross Cummins, Seanaidh Symth, Ryan Denny and David Murphy giving little away. Just as it looked as though it was going to be scoreless at half time, a hurried clearance led to the ball being put back into our box and Carrigaline scored on the stroke of half time.
We came out second half and were pinned back for the first ten minutes but again just as we were starting to play again, Carrigaline scored on the break. We still took the game to Carrigaline and with a little bit of luck could have scored.

Overall a very good performance, the lads showing they can compete in the higher divisions, there were many good displays, Jamie Warrington and Cormac Beausang had great first half's, Owen Coates led by example with a terrific performance ably assisted by Killian Browne. All the back four played well with Seanaidh and Ryan winning an amount of headers and tackles but for his all round display David Murphy would just shade the man of match award.
1. Joseph Wyer 2. Russ Cummins 3. David Murphy 4. Owen Coates 5. Seanaidh Smyth 6. Ryan Denny  7. Killian Browne 8.Cormac Beausang 9.Conor Fitzgerald 10.Kyle McCarthy 11. Jamie Warrington 12. Jack Enright  13. Aaron Butler, 14. Dylan Casey, 15. James Leahy

National Cup away to Carrigaline Hibs on 21st Nov 2010
Carrigaline Hibs 0-2 Midleton
Scorer Cormac Beausang 2

Second round of the National Cup and we travelled to Carrigaline to play on the astro pitch. Although not playing well in the 1st half we created a number of chances with Conor Fitzgerald coming closest with a sweet volley which hit one post and then the other without crossing the line.

With a few words of encouragement we started the second half well and scored after 2 mins when a great cross by Killian Browne was finished well by Cormac Beausang. We then sat back for the next 15 mins and it took some great defending especially from Seanaidh Symth to keep Carrigaline at bay. We then started to play again with Killian and Cormac combining again for Cormac to score the decisive goal on 56mins.

Overall another clean sheet from Joe, with a good performance from Killian, but man of the match by a country mile was Seanaidh Smyth who was terrfic at the heart of the defence.

1. Joseph Wyer 2. Aaron Butler 3. David Murphy 4. Owen Coates 5. Seanaidh Smyth 6. Ryan Denny  7. Killian Browne 8.Cormac Beausang 9.Conor Fitzgerald 10.Kyle McCarthy 11. Jack Enright  12. Alan Ware 13. Russ Cummins 14. Dylan Casey

Challenge Match v Springfield Ramblers 13th Nov 2010
Midleton 1-3 Springfield Ramblers
Scorer Ryan Denny

We had a good workout against Premiership side Springfield and for long periods of the match there was little between the sides. The first half was very even as we played some excellent football and with a little more luck we could have been more up at the break. We did score after 20mins when following a corner Ryan Denny drive the ball to the back of the net from 5 yards.

We could not keep our intensity up in the second half and with 5mins to go the match looked like finishing in a draw, unfortunately we conceded 2 late goals to lose the match 3-1 in the end, the score line not reflecting the even nature of the game.

Despite the loss there were several good performances, Cormac Beausang had a excellent 1st half closely followed by Seanaidh Smyth, Kyle McCarthy, Conor Fitzgerald and Killian Browne. We can take a lot of positives into our next game as the overall team display against Premiership opposition was very good, man of the match this week for his overall performance was Cormac Beausang.

1. Joseph Wyer 2. Aaron Butler 3. David Murphy 4. Owen Coates 5. Seanaidh Smyth 6. Ryan Denny  7. Killian Browne 8.Cormac Beausang 9.Conor Fitzgerald 10.Kyle McCarthy 11. Jack Enright  12. James Leahy 13. Russ Cummins 14. Dylan Casey

League away to Passage United 6th Nov 2010
Passage 2-1 Midleton
Scorer Kyle McCarthy

We suffered our first defeat of the season going down 2-1 to Passage. There was nothing between the 2 sides in the first half with neither getting any control over the match. The wet conditions did little for fast flowing football and half time was reached with neither defence being breached.

The second half continued in the same vein, but 2 defensive lapses after ten minutes saw Passage race into a 2nil lead, we replied quickly through a great strike by Kyle McCarthy and although we had 2 good chances to equalise we did not take them. Credit to Passage who worked hard for their victory although a draw probably would have been a fair result.

All in all a very disappointing result, with plenty of work to do on the training ground before our next game. There were very few contenders for Man of the match, Joe Wyer had a very good game in goal but with a good solid performance at right back Aaron Butler would take the honour this week.

1. Joseph Wyer 2. Aaron Butler 3. David Murphy 4. Owen Coates 5. Jamie Warrington 6. Ryan Denny    7. Killian Browne 8.James Leahy 9.Conor Fitzgerald 10.Kyle McCarthy 11.Dylan Casey 12. Garan Manley 13. Barry O'Callaghan 14. Ryan O'Reagan 15. Seanaidh Smyth 16. Cormac Beausang

National Cup at home to Casteview at 24th October
Midleton 6-3 Castleview
Scorers Kyle McCarthy 2, Conor Fitzgerald 2, James Leahy and Owen Coates.

What a game is a term often used but that was what we had today in Knockgriffen. Castleview top of division 2 were eventually dispatched but it take extra time and no bit of skill and hard work to overcome an excellent Castleview side.

Where to start, we started really well and for the first 20mins controlled the game scoring after 6 mins through Kyle McCarthy and then on 21mins through James Leahy. Castleview then upped they game and finished the half strong scoring on 26mins to leave the half time 2-1 to us.

We thought Castleview would come out strong and only 2mins into the second half they equalised and were pushing us hard, we responded well and a great pass from Conor Fitzgerald was finished well by Kyle for his second of the game. Back game Castleview and for the rest of the half had us pinned back, some great defending kept them at bay especially by Seanaidh Smyth and Ryan Denny. Just as we thought we had won the game Castleview drew level with a great strike with the last kick of the game.

Extra time came and our lads stepped up Conor Fitz with a great finish on 67mins gave us the lead again and this time there was no stopping us. Two more goals in the second period one from Owen Coates, our ninth different player to score this season and then a second from Conor sealed the game. A round of applause greeted both teams at the final whistle in what was a great exhibition of football with not a dirty tackle in the game.

Man of the match this week could have been a number of players Seanaidh and Ryan both had excellent games, James Leahy had another great game in midfield and it was great to see Conor back from injury scoring two, but maybe shading it with 2 goals and a great all round performance was Kyle McCarthy.

League at Home to Killinardrish Coachford 9th October
Midleton 6 Killinardrish Coachford 0
Goal Scorers Jack Enright 3, Ryan Denny 2 and James Leahy.

We got back to winning ways with an empathic win, although missing a number of players through injury the lads available put in a fine display. Playing against the strong wind in the 1st half we took an earlier lead after 6mins when a great ball by Seanaidh Smyth was finished well by James Leahy. For the rest of the half a few chances came and went but the half time score remained 1-0.

The second half saw us dominate play and after 39 mins Jack Enright was in the right position to finish off after a mistake by the goalkeeper. Three minutes later a corner was cleared to the edge of the box where centre half Ryan Denny thumped the ball to the back of the net for his 1st ever competitive goal, amazingly his wait for his second only lasted 7 more minutes when a great diving header produced his second goal of the game.

By now we were looking dangerous with every attack with our midfield driving us forward, Jack was in the right place to score 2 further goals to complete his hat trick to round off a great team performance, the match finishing 6-0. Man of the match very difficult to call this week with the back five keeping another clean sheet, and centre half Ryan popping up with 2 goals, and Jack Enright scoring a fine hat-trick, perhaps we should let them share the honours this week.

League Away to Everton on 25th Sept
The old saying that is never over until the final whistle blows was never more true in our second away game of the season. We got off to the perfect start when within 5 minutes a perfect cross by Conor Fitzgerald was finished with a powerful 1st time finish by Killian Browne. The rest of half was fairly even with both defences making sure there where no more goals.

The second half saw us dominate possession with Owen Coates and Sub James Leahy driving us forward in midfield. With a little more luck and better finishing we should have closed out the game. Unfortunately with a minute to go Everton scored with literally their only attack of the second half.
The match petered out to finish 1-1, but overall the lads played very well in the second half and our unbeaten start to the campaign continued. Man of the match went to Captain Owen Coates for his terrific display in the centre of midfield.

League Home to Innishvilla on 12th Sept
The first league game at home against Innishvilla got off to a bang when within 4 minutes Cormac Beausang unleashed a pile driver to the bottom corner from 25 yards. For the next 15 minutes it was nip and tuck with the Midleton back four and goalkeeper Jo Wyer repelling the Innishvilla attacks. A good move on 22 minutes saw Kyle McCarthy finish well after the ball was initially saved from a shot by Conor FitzGerald. Half time come with a score line of 2-0 and with a few tactical changes Midleton piled forward in the second half.

Three goals in a matter of five minutes two from Kyle completing his hat trick and one from Conor made the score 5-0, with this all the subs were given game time and a further strike from Conor completed the scoring to make it a resounding 6-0 victory.
The match closed out with the defence keeping another clean sheet and the team as a whole performing very well, man of the match again was close but for his terrific hat trick Kyle McCarthy would have to take the accolades this week.

League Away to Crosshaven on 28th Aug
A good start to the season for the new u13 panel. Playing away in Crosshaven the team eased to a 1 -0 win. Midleton attacked from the kickoff and were unlucky not to take advantage of a number of scoring opportunities in the 1st half. With the defence looking strong with centre half pairing of Seanaidh Smyth and Ryan Denny supported by both full backs thwarting any attacks, it was hopefully only a matter of time before the breakthrough was made. This came 15 minutes into the second half when a great run by Killian Browne was finished off by Dylan Casey at the near post. We finished the game strong but for the post and a further few opportunities missed we finished the game with a 1 -0 victory.

On the whole a very satisfaction performance with all 15 on the panel getting a run, man of the match was close but for his terrific display in the midfield captain for the day Owen Coates would take the accolades.
