MUNSTER SENIOR CUP Q-FINAL

Midleton 1- 0 Park Utd

Goalscorer : Jake Hegarty

The magpies reach the semi-final of the munster senior cup after a deserved 1-0 win over Park Utd, Midleton dominated the 1st half but never got a break through , Park did bring their moments with long throws and direct free kicks in swirling wind conditions to cause a few scares, but Midleton dealt well with most.

An early penalty shout waved away in 2nd half for the magpies, Shane O Riordan came close shortly after with a driving run, Midletons own long throw lead to a few hairy moments for Park also. Midleton did score after James Mc Carthy was upended in the box after neat turn to beat the defender and substitute Jake Hegarty dispatched well despite the wind blowing the ball away 7/8 times, great composure. Park tried to rally and get back in the game and battled hard but Midleton defended well, with O Riordan, Collins, Keane, Cotter being strong in deteriorating conditions.

Seamus Farrell had another good game in midfield alongside Lally and Lambe. Robin Ward worked extremely hard off the front and the busy Mc Carthy and Beausang providing the sparks behind him. Well done lads great win, and the reward is a home tie versus Mayfield Utd or Cork City.
