MUNSTER SENIOR CUP SEMI - FINAL FT MIDLETON 2-1 MAYFIELD UTD

MUNSTER SENIOR CUP SEMI -FINAL FT
MIDLETON 2-1MAYFIELD UTD
Fantastic hard fought win tonight in the Munster Senior Cup, After conceding a early pen Midleton stopper Andy O Donoghue made a unbelievable save to keep out, Mayfield stayed in a strong spell up to 20min until the magpies settled on the all-weather surface, Mayfield did take 1st blood but the Magpies replied through a fierce James Leahy volley from edge of the box.
The Magpies started 2nd half brightly and the introduction of Kevin Tattan gave Midleton a calmer influence on the game, and Midleton made it two again from a goal you may not see better all year with possibly 10-12 phases right from the back to put Leahy through on goal 1v1 and the ginger Kante made no mistake to put the magpies ahead, Midleton stayed in control of this game and could have added more through Emmet Cotter and Tijani Aibor unlucky not to find the net.
Massive result for the whole squad after moving the game to a neutral venue and injuries and work commitments, players took their chance in their absence.
The togetherness in this squad is vital going forward with key games to come ahead.
Well done to James Leahy on two huge goals and man of match performance pushed all the way by Tijani who moved into the centre forward role to help the team, Kruschel and Cotter supplied quality once again and that back five solid as ever.
A SECOND MUNSTER SENIOR CUP FINAL TO COME FOR OUR CLUB
