Carrigtwohill United 0 Vs 1 Midleton A

U16A won 1-0 away to local rivals Carrigtwohill on Tuesday night to keep their league title hopes alive. They are two points behind Ballinhassig with both teams having three games left to play. The game against Carrig was a tight affair with some strong tackles made by both teams. Midleton had the majority of the ball but Carrig where dangerous when Adam Rooney or David Joseph got time on the ball. However, the Midleton back four were never in any real danger and Josh Mulcahy in the Midleton goal was as assured as ever. In midfield Ben O’Neil and Colin Sunderland worked extremely hard to press the Carrig team and they supported our forward line at every opportunity. Up front we had Keith Cleary in the number 10 position and he really brought some accuracy to our link up play. On the right side Kamil Michalak had a great game and his defensive work was one of his best this year. Going forward his speed and control really put Carrig under pressure. In as striker was Ciarmhac Smyth who one so many 50/50s t keep the pressure on and give players around him time to help. His work rate and commitment was fantastic. On the left side was our player of the match Mubaraq Awobimpe who pure determination blew Carrig away on several occasions. He was unplayable at times and created the winning goal out of nothing. After a long throw in from Aaron Smyth, Ciarmhac got a touch back towards Neil Fitzgerald who knocked it forward to Muba. With several defenders in a bunch both Muba and Neil fought hard on the each of the box to win possession and Muba was able to know the ball out right where he got to it first and right footed it in the corner past the approaching keeper. It was a really determined performance from the whole team and makes the final few games all the more exciting.
